This interview is part of what is now a plethora (as of this interview, that would be….60….because episode 60. Wow I’m smart!) of weight loss success stories with real everyday women (and men! There’s a few dude interviews in there) who have used either hCG injections or drops with the hCG diet protocol to lose between 20 and 150 lbs. You can see the current episodes available here.

LYNDA’S BASIC STATS:

  • 57 years old
  • Weight loss with hCG: 25 lbs
  • Size change: Tight Size 6 to Size 2
  • Health condition: She is post-menopausal, she’s on testosterone pellets, estrogen, progesterone and she has a sluggish thyroid.

Show Note Links:

  • hCGChica’s Dosage Article – Lynda started out at 200 IUs. She decreased her dose 10ius, then dropped down another thirty ius. She stayed at 160iu for quite some time then she ended up dropping another ten, down to 150 IUs.
  • hCGChica’s Phase 3 to Life Program – you can enroll anytime, but I recommend at least a week BEFORE P3 starts if at all possible so you have time to familiarize yourself with the program and plan ahead.
  • Lynda’s Sanity Savers:
    • Miracle Noodles
    • Savory Spice Shop  –  If you don’t already have a nice store of spices in your pantry, they can be pricey. This online source is MUCH more affordable when you need a batch of spices and also much FRESHER which means it actually add the ton of flavor it’s supposed to, unlike most grocery store sources.
    • Peppermint tea + chocolate stevia – she had this on both P2 and P3
  • Flexible Thai Knife
  • Instant Pot: 6Qt
  • PiYo Workout – Lynda is doing this now on Phase 3. PiYo combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga.
  • Calorieking – Food diary app
Other strategies Lynda did for a successful P2:
  • Wear disposable gloves while cooking oily foods
  • Lynda used UltraBurn injections to keep her energy up
  • Read nutrition labels
  • Eat before going to a restaurant. Have a coffee at the restaurant. If you really have to eat your packed meal, just tell the restaurant staff you’re on a special restrictive diet.

Here is Lynda’s original email to me:

“Thank you so much for adding this element to P3 to Life! Love the flexibility, list of approved foods and nutritional value. I especially LOVE the ability to create a grocery list from the recipes- that’s a great time saver!!….

Just want to express how much I appreciate your HELP! I just completed my 1st week on P3!  The recipes were simply DELICIOUS!  I’m still am amazed at the amount of foods in each serving! Thank you also for adding the Extra’s List of foods when you are still hungry.  Also, the tools that you have shared and the resources like the savory spice shop. The Kiwi knife arrived yesterday and it is quite the knife for $7!!”

Thank you for responding so quickly! I have to tell you that  all the hard work you’ did to share EVERYTHING about hCG. P1,P2, P3… has made this a  success for me. Once I decided to jump into hCG (injections)- I watched your videos and then read and coped all that you’ve created and placed into a binder- tabbed all the categories and continue to use it as ‘my hCG Bible”.

During part of  P2, I stayed at my daughter’s house as she delivered  her 4th child and needed some help- so for 18 days while on P2- I continued without a hitch. I wore disposable gloves to cook all meals- bacon, cheese, PB&J’s mac/cheese, etc. and wipe sweet lil faces 🙂 !   Prior to traveling, I weighed, cooked, then froze enough food to get me through 2 weeks, which was so helpful so my meals were easy to complete. During the time I was there we had 2 birthday parties, lots of company and people bringing lots of meals for the family. The food looked great, but I never felt  the need to even taste it- thanks to hCG .
I must confess that I did remain on the P2 protocol an extra 8 days until P3 was released.
Just as I had done with P2, I also PREPARED, shopped and ordered many of the items that you suggested for P3. The “go to” extras for me have been the Miracle noodles (P2 &P3),  Cauliflower or Broccoli rice 2 cups cooked in 2 tsp ghee and seasoned with Turmeric, Paprika, garlic, sea S/P. I always have boiled eggs (P3) in the frig. Also, when I’m hungry, first  I drink 8oz water then wait 20 minutes, if still hungry then go to my extras. So far, this has worked vey well. My other helper is Peppermint tea with Chocolate stevia! ( had to be careful with the stevia is P2- stall).
I LOVE all the P3 recipes and meal plans you’ve created! I have followed each day as suggested and enjoyed all the yummy smoothies for dessert!
Currently, P3, week 2, day 4, my weight has unintentionally decreased  from my LIW. Today, I’m down 1.2 lbs and at one point 1.6 lbs. I assume that the 2 pound rule applies from the LIW. I am post-menopausal, and under the care of a Bio-identical Dr. testosterone pellets, estrogen, progesterone and a sluggish thyroid. Prior to hCG, my diet was mostly clean, worked-out 6 days/week. (jog treadmill/PiYo). During P2, a lite work-out caused a stall. So once my weight stabilizes I will return to my work-out routine. I am also taking the Ultra Burn injections which help substantially with energy.
During P2, each morning, I entered my entire day of meals into MFP and then I could adjust my daily meals to meet the caloric and macronutrient allowed, this saved my from ,any “Mistakes”!
Rayzel, love your personality and watching your videos! I simply can’t thank you enough for all that you’ve done to make hCG a success for me! My goal, is to maintain and return to daily workouts as you have personally accomplished!
Sincere gratitude to you,
Lynda”
Lynda’s hCG Injection Weight Loss Story in Her Words:
Can you tell us a bit about yourself? Basics:  (age, height, menopause? any medical details you feel are important- ie thyroid etc).

I’m 57 years old, a booboo (grandma), and a nurse.  I’m menopausal and on Hormone Replacement Therapy. My thyroid levels are very low but not yet as hypothyroidism.

How much weight have you lost?

I actually wanted to lose 15 lbs, 20 at the most. But I lost 25 lbs.

Tell us how you came to be overweight and your struggles with that?

Being a nurse is a stressful job. You don’t get a lot of sleep and you ate at weird times. That set me up for a really bad pattern.  I always controlled my weight with diet and exercise.

When I started menopause, I just started packing on pounds. It didn’t matter what I did. It was because of the hormones and my thyroid. They were working against me.  I was suffering terribly with my bioidenticals. I do the testosterone pellets. I’ve done a lot of things through the years trying to get the menopause weight off. When nothing worked anymore, I wondered “Am I just going to stay like this forever?”

How did you learn about hCG?

My doctor suggested hCG around Christmas time when I came in for a hormone palette implant. He told me to go directly to him. It was a two-hour drive and I had to come every weekend. The cost was $269 every 2 weeks. I was pretty much accountable to myself and I knew my husband would say no. So I researched and found you. I watched all your Youtube videos, and I thought “Maybe I should look at this a little closer.”  At the back of my mind, I thought “it’s probably going to be another one of those things that don’t work…”

The hCG regimen Phase 2 recommended consuming 500 calories. I should confess I tried 500 calories on my own for 2 days (meaning without using hCG). I wanted to rip off my right arm and eat it! So I thought, this was not working.

I researched more about hCG and read that the fat is being released and that you are actually circulating those calories, so that made a lot more sense. And you already did all the legwork to find out which companies are legit, so that was important. To me it was a risk to inject the hormones in.    So for me, when I got hCG, I never wanted to cheat. I just wanted it to work for me.

What type of hCG did you use? If injections or prescription drops, what dose worked best for you?

I used the injections because compared to the other forms, I wanted it done and not worry about it the whole day.   The needles were tiny.

One of the awesome things you said that the others weren’t talking about was about adjusting the dosage to match what you need. I was starving. I can imagine you going, “Adjust it! Adjust it!” I found that by adjusting the dosage I was okay again.

I just followed what you said. I started out at 200 IUs. One day I dropped down 10, then dropped down another thirty IUs. Then I stayed there for quite some time. Then I ended up dropping another ten, down to 150 IUs.

Have you ever used b12 and/or lipo shots, and if so, do you feel it was worth it and why?

On P2, I did the extra, the UltraBurn injections. I personally think it helped with my energy. I lost fast. I didn’t see myself nude until I got home from my daughter’s. I thought, “We’re done.” I took the Ultra Burn for the energy and for the toning. I didn’t want to feel tired.

The Ultra Burn was supposed to help your liver metabolize that fat more efficiently. In theory it does make sense, and it’s injected so it’s localized.

The Ultra Burn needles are also tiny and if you’re not careful you bend it. They recommend you do it on Mondays to Fridays and not on Saturdays and Sundays.

We get up really early, 4:00 – 4:30AM when I was helping with the grandbabies, cooking breakfast and stuff. I had to get a head start, she had four babies. It helps with the energy and helps you stay on it because you’re not tired and you’re not dreading it.

Did you have any difficulties or challenges on P2?

You talked about cheating and how to correct it. When I got hCG, I never wanted to cheat. I just wanted it to work for me.

There were times I made some mistakes. But that was it, it was just an error. And I would just come back to it and ask myself, “Okay, what did you do wrong, or what do you need to do to correct it?” And it would balance itself out. There were days I lost weight, there were days I gained. And I ended up losing more than I initially thought I was going to lose.

Some strategies from Lynda:

I’ve had to go out with people in restaurants during P2 and P3. I used to have just coffee. Then I got peppermint tea that’s delightful and very robust. And before I got to P3 I got my chocolate stevia and put that in the peppermint tea. I drank that all winter long.

Also while I was on P2 my daughter had a baby. So while I was cooking I was constantly wearing disposable gloves. My grandkids asked, “Booboo, do you have an owwie (ouchy)?” Or my son-in-law, a paramedic asked, “Are you going to shock me?” You have to make it fit into your life. People were bringing in food, we had two birthdays. When my daughter came home, the boys wanted to bake her a cake. I was able to get through P2 without compromising. In P2, it’s the simple things. You’re cooking for your family and you touch the butter and not thinking about it. So I went through two boxes of gloves.

For Phase 3: I heard this tip for when you were going out to dinner. They did a diet root beer. I get club soda, mineral water, add my root beer stevia, and then add a tablespoon of heavy cream so I have my fat. If you drink that before you go to a get-together. It helps take the hunger away a notch so you don’t eat around the table.

Lynda’s Experience with:

THE P3TOLIFE PROGRAM DURING PHASE 3 OF THE HCG PROTOCOL

Tell us a bit more before you transitioned to P3. What were/have been your biggest concerns when contemplating going into P3?

When you announced you were going to come up with the P3, I was getting nervous. How am I going to transition? I was getting scared. What am I going to do?

Like you, I was scared and terrified. Plus, I only wanted to do P3 once. This is the first P3 I’ve ever done and I want to stay that way. I stayed on P2 seven days longer even if you told me not to, and waited for the program to come out because I was terrified. While I was waiting I kept reading all the materials we had, and I kept thinking “It’s gonna come out, it’s gonna come out…”  I was so pleased to be able to get the program, put the food together and just devoured everything.

When it came out, I was at my daughter’s because she was having a baby. I was driving when I saw the notification for the tester P3 program. So I pulled over and got the program. I was a bit worried about the cost, but then I saw the price. I was so happy I signed up right away.

How did you find the P3toLife Program?

Coming in to P3, it was awesome because when I would get hungry I always kept some riced veggies and hard boiled eggs, plus my miracle noodles and you can throw it in really fast.

The Simplified Plan is great for somebody who’s so busy. I’m not too busy to cook so the Original Plan is great. You made it foolproof. You provided the recipes, you have the shopping list, you have the tools, the suggestions of the products that worked with you. So if you can get through the hCG part, which wasn’t so bad, then you’re almost guaranteed success if you grab this P3. I didn’t really gain weight on P3.

I was so enlightened when I got the P3tolife Program. I was so excited looking through the recipes. I wanted to sit down and eat slow and savor the food. And it’s so good. The Mahi-Mahi with Asparagus is really good. As well as the Salmon and Broccoli slaw. You suggested doubling it. You can use it as a lunch crossover. And it’s so easy.

Can you share how you prepared for making the meals for Phase 3?

I put the materials on a ring binder, and I take the page I need for the week and post it up. I tell myself I just have to follow it. You’ve done it and prepared it, so I just follow it and go.

Rayzel: If you design things for everyone, you know everyone has a different metabolic levels. I wanted to make sure you guys have a baseline. Some ask if they have to eat the entire meal prepared. No, you can eat less if you’re full. Sometimes when people come up from P2, they don’t need to eat much. After that, your appetite comes back.  Some people have higher metabolic levels and are hungrier. In that case, don’t eat when you’re not hungry. But if you’re hungrier, add on. The whole point is that you can eat as much as you can without gaining weight.

Even if I’m retired, I feel for the ladies who are in a working environment. My children are raised, so I have the time to prepare those. If you’re working it’s alright to plan it for the week and prepare the meals on the weekend. It’s so easy to do.

Rayzel: One of my goals is for all of us to try different things and eat a variety. You end up feeling happier long term if there’s variety.

How did you adjust your eating on Phase 3?

If I got hungry, I would refer to the rice or the eggs. Thank goodness you suggested miracle noodles. I learned about them years earlier, and I went “Ugh, those sound terrible.” But when you suggested it, I ordered some online. I love it. To me, miracle noodles was like cheating when I was on P2. When I was hungry it would give me the feeling of being full. But it helped me so much, also the riced cauliflower and broccoli, even in that phase. So I thought, I must be cheating even though I wasn’t. I would panic I would find in my refrigerator I was down to 2 packages, it would take some time for Amazon to deliver.

One of the things you suggested is I can eat the extra portion of breakfast if I get really hungry. One of my favorites is the sun-dried tomatoes, but the bowls. You’re busting like 200 calories on that, but if you’re really hungry, it works.

Because of that you don’t feel deprived and I’m always amazed. I think it’s the volume of vegetables we were throwing in.

Yeah, and that was strategic. I’m just a person, maybe it’s my DNA and I want to eat a lot. so… You guys, I’m still maintaining. It’s been 5 years, but I still eat quite a bit! When I designed it, I knew the food has to have volume! I get panicky if I feel I will not be able to eat as much to feel good. So I thought, okay, I have to make sure everyone feels they have enough. It shouldn’t happen that they’re run out and hungry at the end of the day, and there’s nothing to eat.

When you threw in those desserts, every one of those are divine! Plus I think, “Oh, I still get to have some smoothie tonight!”

I love your recommendation to make two or four servings. For instance, yesterday we did Buffalo Chicken Salad. I took that with me and ate it, and had it for lunch.

I was trying to pick favorites, but I love the variety of tastes. It made me eat different things. I didn’t eat shrimp, or chicken thighs, but now I cook them and I go, “These are pretty good!” Last night, I don’t usually eat pork, but I had Pork Cacciatore, that was divine! It was really, really good!

How was your weight after P3?

To be honest the whole time I was on P3, from my last dose weight, I went back to what I lost after Day 6, and I’ve been under it ever since. I also lost 3 1/2 lbs within that. I’m trying not to lose, it just happened naturally. I’ve just been eating what you put in.

I took it and that’s when I emailed you. Two pounds over and under the Last Injection Weight. I don’t want to lose any more. I’m eating what you put down.

Have you encountered any problems while on P3?

The only problem is none of my clothes fit me. I only get to wear my leggings.  My size 6 clothes were getting really tight. I now fit into this tiny jeans skirt that’s a size 2. This is from the days I taught aerobics. There were times I taught 3 times a day.

I went to PiYo before, it’s a combination of Pilates and yoga. That’s where I want to go back. I tried to walk in P2 and stabilized the weight. I didn’t want to lose too much. I do need to tone up. That’s where I am now.

Fortunately it’s easy to accommodate food restrictions. Years past, you can’t. If I know I’m having wine, I’ll use miracle noodles. I have to rinse them out. It’s fishy.

I love the spices. I just got a huge order from Savory Spice Shop.

Also, I love the $7 knife you recommended! Everyone’s having a knife in their stocking this year.

Everyone, the knife is in the recommended tools of the P3toLife Program. It’s a $7 knife and cuts everything so well. I get wrist pain if I have to slice a lot. The other expensive high end knives are so heavy. These knives are so awesome. Learned it from a Thai cooking class a while back.

I tried to do the Apple peeler core spiralizer. It doesn’t work. The Instant Pot, I don’t have yet. Looks like it saves a lot of time.

I cook a lot. I can always get tips from you. But those who don’t cook, there it is. This is how you do it. All the meals are easy. Thank God I have a Vitamix.

In the P3 program there’s an allocation in the calories for smoothie that’s dessert. It’s sugar-free and it’s for dessert. How was it learning to make the dessert smoothie? What do you think of them?

I tried them all and I love it. I’m not a fan of bananas but with the walnuts… oh my goodness! I’ve made that 2 or 3 times now. I have a learning curve. It is awesome. First time I did it the same way you did. Mine was icy crunchy. I had to learn that if I do 2 ice cubes at a time, I get this huge bowl of smoothie.

I do it like you say then I add 2 cubes at a time then I press pulse until it sounds like it’s smoothing. Then I add two more until I get 7 or 9.

So when you followed the program, you lost a few pounds, it sounds like your weight is fairly stable. Did it gradually go down?

On P3, the first day I have been within 6/10 of a pound.

I can’t express how grateful I am to have that. I want to be able that when I’m done, I’m done. I want to be just like you who’ll say it’s been 5 years down the road since my hCG!

I want to do other things in my life. I don’t want to worry about that! Do the work out, eat right, and I’m done. I was so skeptical to start the whole thing and I’m like “Yay!” That’s why I’m so grateful to you for bringing the P3, and you’ve given us the maintenance, the options of adding to, to stay where we are. There’s so many recipes in here I don’t have to have any more.

I’ve always been a label reader. So many of those protein shakes, spices you just really have to read the labels. It helps people. If you’re not aware of the information and you just grab things, you might sabotage what you’ve been working on so hard. Like, I got this deli meat and I asked if it had sugar. The deli man said there’s no sugar. And I asked, can you read the label? And it did have sugar. It’s the little things.

When I have the P3tolife foods, I’m just full. It’s such a nice feeling. When others do the diet you just feel hungry all the time.

You mentioned to use an app to track yourself. I did that on P2. In the morning I would add everything I was going to have that day. Then later on I could switch things if I’m going over. I didn’t have to correct mistakes. I already knew this was what I could have. It wasn’t the same with the Fitness Pal, it didn’t add up correctly. It was crazy. I used it the other day for tracking breakfast. It should’ve been only 190 calories but then it says 400 calories! Then you just want to go, forget it, I don’t want to do it. It’s a total waste of time. It’s good for tracking water though and work out time. I’m going to try Calorie King app.

Can you tell me about the volume of the portion sizes, you mentioned in one of your emails the portion sizes were good. Can you tell us more about it?

I wish I had my bowl so I can show you. It was a Buffalo Chicken Salad and it was HUGE. It was two cups of lettuce. My husband will have a meat and maybe a salad or vegetable. Occasionally, a bit of rice. He’s eating a little bit and I have this huge plate mounded. And I’m not eating near the fat that he’s doing. It’s a lot of food and I do like to eat a lot. The amount of food is incredible. Even if I try to weigh it out, I have to get bigger containers because there’s so much food to split between containers.

The frittata, it makes four nice pie-shaped servings. And so, yesterday I was gone all day and only ate lunch at 3PM. The frittata with spinach held me all morning long and then I had the Buffalo Chicken Salad. It keeps me satisfied.

And just the variety of food that’s in there… My husband says “Wow, that’s really good, I’m proud of you for eating this and that.” And it really is, and I will just keep cooking this over and over again.

I was afraid of eating because I didn’t want to sabotage what I just finished. I appreciate all the food here are laid out, ready to go. And I’ll just follow through.

I think it’s so doable and it works. You just totally changed it. Maybe like me others need to have hormone tweaking done, I don’t know.

You are just like a Fairy Godmother to us.

Getting your body into homeostasis and it works so much better. I’m excited and I appreciate the exercise videos too.

I’d love to talk about how you handled eating out?

Well, last week, my grandson had a baseball game and we took him out after. So my daughter-in-law asked the restaurant staff if it’s alright that one of us was on a special diet. Would it be alright to bring the food in? The restaurant said, sure. I wouldn’t have eaten if it wasn’t mentioned. I was planning to have just coffee. So we bought the whole meal, desserts. I’ve done it several times. Usually I have coffee and water, plus I eat before I go. If it’s a meal, I just simply ask them. I don’t have to say anything except I’m on a special restrictive diet. They don’t have to know. I don’t really care and it keeps me where I need to be.

If it’s a really special restaurant, I would choose not to go there

It’s such a short time that you have for yourself.

If you do find yourself in a social event and people want to know, just say I’m on a special diet.

After reading/listening to Jenna’s story, tell me what your goal is for this round of P2 for you. What is your goal? And I’m not talking about pounds you wish to lose honestly- what’s the deeper thing you wish to achieve?

————————-

Hello lovely hCGers. This interview is part of what is now a plethora of weight loss success stories with real everyday women (and men! There’s a few dude interviews in there) who have used either hCG injections or drops with the hCG diet protocol to lose between 20 and 150 lbs. You can see the current episodes available here.

JENNA’S BASIC STATS:

  • 36 years old
  • 5’7″
  • Current weight: 167 lbs
  • Starting weight: 202 lbs
  • Weight loss with hCG: 35 lbs
  • Size change: Size 16 to Size 10
  • Health condition: She had a necrotic stomach – so her stomach basically killed itself. They didn’t know why or how that happened. They removed her stomach so her esophagus is now connected to her intestines.
From Jenna:

If anyone has questions or wants more info from me about the necrotic stomach or side effects (or anything!) you can reach me on my Instagram: @jennabh80– I check it daily – and my hCG IG account: @ChicagohCG

Jenna’s hCG Injection Weight Loss Story in Her Words:
Basics:

I am 36 years old and 5’7″ tall.

I have a strange medical issue- my stomach unexpectedly died in 2012 so my esophagus is attached to my small intestine.

It makes eating difficult and as a result of this happening I gained a large amount of weight for an unknown reason.  Even though I don’t have the capacity to binge and eat horribly on a regular basis I gained about 60 pounds within 7 months after this happened.

It has been a struggle ever since and NOTHING has worked other than this HCG diet!  The diet even helped me eat foods I haven’t been able to eat in the past such as red meat and greens.

How much weight you’ve lost with hCG/starting weight/ending weight/ clothing size change.  How many rounds did you do, how long was each round? stuff like that.

I lost 35 pounds on a 45 day round.  This was the first round I have ever done.

My starting weight was 202 and my end weight was 167. I went from a size 16 pant to a size 10.  I’m bottom heavy so you can notice it drastically in my top half!

How long have you currently been maintaining (or where are you currently at in your hCG journey)?

I’ve been maintaining for 31 days!  I didn’t have any major gains during Phase 3.

Tell us how you came to be overweight and your struggles with that?

I became overweight after my stomach died and getting sick. The only thing I could eat without horrible pain was carbs (basically plain pasta).  I was eating very little protein and I couldn’t eat leafy greens.

I have a weird side effect of what happened to me which is that I can never feel full.  I literally can be eating and still feel hungry- it never goes away.

During the diet I had to tell myself that it wasn’t hunger that I feel so now I say I never get hungry (which basically means I just always feel the same… which is hunger but it’s mental).  It’s all very strange!

What type of hCG did you use?

I used hCG Injections (Rayzel’s note: current recommended sources for buying hCG shots online here).

Have you ever used b12 and/or lipo shots, and if so, do you feel it was worth it and why?

Yes I ordered the B12 Lipo shots for the second half of Phase 2.

I don’t think they really did much for me other than maybe break my stalls which happened a lot the second part of my long Phase 2.  I take B12 injections weekly due to my medical issues for the past few years so it really just replaced them with the lipo part adding the aminos.

Rayzel’s note: You can add b12 shots do your hCG diet protocol with any of the companies on my blog.

What would you say your experience was the first week on phase 2? Easy or hard? explain. Could also discuss how you loaded if you like. What parts of the protocol were easier for you and which parts were more challenging? How did you handle the challenging aspects?

The first week of Phase 2 was hard.

I had to realize how often I ate just because I could or because I was bored.  I feel tired a lot and I would eat to refuel but it actually was working against me.  All of this was realized during this first week!

I also noticed how much my body was changing just after a week!  Weight was dropping but I know that was mostly water weight.  I noticed less bloating, less fatigue, better skin, and I was sleeping better at night! This made it easy to stick with it but the hunger and not just eating to eat was the hard part.

I also missed pasta a lot! Since loading is hard for me with a lack of stomach I just ate really calorie rich items all day long in small quantities.  I didn’t gain much loading (only 5 pounds) but I think that is because I couldn’t get a lot of quantity in.

I put a picture of myself at the moment as my screen saver on my phone so every time I went to go look at Facebook or text I would be reminded at how unhappy I currently am with my body and it would give me the extra push to stick with it.

I also watched almost every video of yours online so I felt like I really understood what my body was going through and what to expect.  That helped a lot with just feeling informed!

What did you find yourself liking to eat during Phase 2/vlcd – how would you prepare your meals?

I can’t eat anything that goes near water so I was pretty restricted to chicken and beef.  Because of this I did allow myself some of the vegetarian options and I did occasional low carb shakes and Morningstar Farms products.

  • I LOVED the tomato basil burgers from Morningstar farms. I would make a salsa and eat it with the salsa.  I ate this twice a week so it was always something I looked forward to.
  • I made applesauce in the slow cooker which was delicious.
  • I also made sure to buy very high quality steak. When I ate steak it was filet mignon and this helped TREMENDOUSLY because it was such quality meat.   No cardboard steak!
  • I also did “taco’s” a lot with iceberg lettuce and then meat mixed with Valentina hot sauce!
  • Tastefully Simple is an online company that makes great seasonings so I bought those and put their Onion Onion seasoning on my chicken all the time and their Simply Salsa mixed with the tomatoes. I actually found a lot that I liked for what I was working with!
  • Also Stevia packets saved my life! I would get the green tea from Starbucks almost once a day and add Stevia.  You just have to make sure to get it unsweetened!
  • Also, I prepared all of the meat fresh when i wanted to eat it. This made a big difference to me.  Eating day old cooked chicken or steak just isn’t as good as from the oven.  And I broiled all my meat with just salt, pepper, and seasoning so it only took about 6 minutes to make.  I pre made the salsa so it lasted for a few days and always had cucumbers and ice burg lettuce on hand.
What tricks do you have up your sleeve to stay sane while on Phase 2?

Stay busy!  I’m a stay at home mom which some people always talk about not having time to eat but I never had that problem!  I just made sure to make food for them… and make mine separate.

Also I think having those couple items you really enjoy eating but not eating them every day.  Make it something you look forward to.  I would be like… meh chicken tonight… but steak cups tomorrow!!!  I basically ate the same 6 meals over and over but I enjoyed them so I didn’t mind.

What Lessons have you learned during Phase 3 – give us the good and the bad! What types of things did you discover when it came to maintenance that did and didn’t work?

Phase 3 is tricky because all of a sudden you have to make all these good choices and stay on protocol.  I found not allowing myself to even taste anything off protocol worked for me because one taste and I would want more.

When you introduce carbs do it very slowly and for breakfast or lunch.  I have been using the app MACROS and it is awesome!  It is basically like weight watchers so it tracks your food and points.  I like it because you can input how many carbs, calories, protein, etc a day you want to really make it specified to you.

I put in 50 carbs a day as my max and I just made sure to follow that!

In Phase 4: Can you tell us what types of foods you eat now in every day life? And how is this different from what you used to eat on a normal basis?

I think the biggest change is drinking which I’m able to do now.  I’ve had beer here and there and I haven’t had an issue with it.

I don’t eat pasta or bread unless it is a very special occasion (which I haven’t had yet!).  I have stuck to carbs more in the form of crackers or chips.

I found an awesome Cauliflower Pizza Crust which allows me to eat pizza.  I basically tell myself that I’m not technically “craving” something just because I see it.

I haven’t gained any weight at all P3 or P4 so far other than maybe one or two pounds at a time which is corrected by eating steak and my tomato salsa the next day.  I found that gains are basically coming from eating sugar so I have just been trying not to eat any and sticking with the Stevia!

What have been your tools for maintaining your weight loss?
  • MACROS is amazing.
  • HCGChica website and Instagram is awesome- it makes me feel like I’m not alone and I love imagining all the people just getting started and how happy they will be once the weight starts to come off.
  • Long trips to the grocery store looking at labels and checking ingredients for items JUST FOR ME is great too.  When you are shopping for the whole family you are distracted so I like to go browse grocery stores with me in mind!
  • Also weighing yourself every day is key.
Do you have any memories of your life/body pre hCG that are totally different for you now?

I was so so unhappy with how I looked- for the past 5 years.  I had 2 kids in that time frame but I never was able to get under my pre-baby weight so I can’t really blame the pregnancies.  I perfected hiding my body with dark clothing and good camera angles.  Now I just am so impressed with how I look after a short period of time that it is the motivation I need to stick with it and not let myself slip again.

When you want a treat now, give us a couple examples of what you might eat? Also, are you ever able to indulge in a regular treat, like cake at a party, and still maintain?

I haven’t totally indulged yet other than beer.  I think I had 3 one night and didn’t gain so that was success!!!  I have tried tastes of things such as my daughter’s birthday cake and a spoonful of ice cream but it just isn’t what I remember.

I allow myself the tastes but I don’t want to get in the habit of ordering my own quite yet.  I found that the cocoa covered almonds from Trader Joe’s really help my sweet tooth when I have it. You just have to make sure to follow the serving size!

What factors have you noticed to play a role in people NOT succeeding on hCG?

I think cheating during P2 is huge.  I didn’t cheat- not once!!!

My friend did it with me and she cheated often.  She still lost weight but not as much and she is still in diet mode on Phase 3. I didn’t feel like I was still dieting on Phase 3 at all because I could eat so many new things.

Also, I think you really have to just kick yourself in the butt and say it’s only 23 days.  ANYONE can go 23 days without cheating on a diet… if you cheat it’s because you allow yourself to so just don’t do it!  (I know easier said than done).

What do you feel are the most important keys to success on the hcg protocol? If someone said they want to have the same results you have, what would you tell them?

I would tell them not to cheat on P2.  Listen to your body – I couldn’t eat a lot of things others could on the modified P2 diet such as cauliflower and broccoli.  It would make me stall so pretty soon I just stopped trying things off of protocol and stuck with the basics.

I think really trying recipes until you find stuff you actually like is key too.  You can’t just make food to eat it you really need to find ways to make it so that you actually like what you are eating.

Which if you made it this far….I now have a resource for you for that!

This interview is part of what is now a plethora of weight loss success stories with real everyday women (and men! There’s a few dude interviews in there) who have used either hCG injections or drops with the hCG diet protocol to lose between 20 and 150 lbs. You can see the current episodes available here.

This got started from the comment Julie left on the P3 program membership site:

“Someone in heaven is watching over me because the weekend that I started P3 was the same weekend that Rayzel offered the P3tolife program!!! I bought it immediately and am completely in love!! I’ve NEVER been so excited and happy with food I am eating and felt so satisfied and good at the same time! I can’t wait to try each new recipe and I’m continually amazed at how delicious and flavorful the food is that I’ve cooked. My family is loving it as well! I triple every recipe! I haven’t had one issue on P3 – it has been soooooo easy and I keep losing weight too! I have lost 8 more pounds during the past two and a half weeks by following Rayzel’s P3tolife!! I plan to continue to eat this way for life!! Rayzel – you are an angel from heaven! I can’t thank you enough!!”

If I said my eyes didn’t get misty I’d be lying. When you work SO hard on something for quite a long time, not knowing whether or not it will be useful or valued once you put it out there for everyone to see and use, getting comments like THIS one truly validate all that painstaking work.

After I contacted her, this was her follow up reply:

“Ahhh!  So good to hear from you. I meant every word I said!  I really don’t have a clue what I’d be doing right now without this program and I’m so excited about the future!  I lost 20 pounds on HCG and 8 pounds on Rayzel (haha)*.  Total loss of 28 pounds in 2 months – that is crazy!!”

*Please note: Weight loss during P3 is not typical – usually the goal for most is to stabilize their new weight loss – however, some P3tolife members, by eating to hunger (which means that in many cases they end up finding they don’t eat all the P3 meals in their entirety), they end up losing more weight which is something they uniquely choose to do. I am personally not against this either- at some point you stabilize your weight loss, but in my experience, when exactly you do this doesn’t honestly seem to matter.

JULIE’S BASIC HCG DIET WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY:

  • Starting Weight: 164.8 lbs
  • Ending Weight after hCG: 144 lbs
  • Ending Weight after P3tolife Program: 136 lbs
  • Total Weight Loss: 28.8 lbs
  • Age: 45 years old
  • She has Celiac Disease and has been gluten-free for 3-4 years. She also has a thyroid problem making it hard for her to lose weight.

Show Note Links:

  • hCGChica’s Dosage Article – Julie was really struggling with hunger even after 3 weeks and her doctor didn’t know why.  She called her pharmacist and they thought the doctor prescribed too high a dose.  She googled “what causes hungry on HCG diet” and that’s when she watched a video or read about it on hcgchica.com.
  • hCGChica’s Phase 3 to Life Program – you can enroll anytime, but I recommend at least a week BEFORE P3 starts if at all possible so you have time to familiarize yourself with the program and plan ahead.
  • Chocoperfection – This is my favorite brand. Ultra fine and creamy texture. This chocolate is sweetened w/ Erythritol + chicory root fiber.
Julie’s Experience with:

THE P3TOLIFE PROGRAM DURING PHASE 3 OF THE HCG PROTOCOL

What type of hCG did you use, and where are you currently at in your weight loss journey?

This was my first time to do the HCG diet.  A friend asked me to do it with her and I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into.  I wasn’t very prepared.  I used a doctor in Dallas and did the injections.  I was really struggling with hunger even after 3 weeks and my doctor didn’t know why.

I called my pharmacist and they thought the doctor prescribed too high a dose.  I googled “what causes hunger on HCG diet” and that’s when I watched a video or read about it on HCG chica.

I started at 164.8 pounds on Jan 31, 2017 and lost 20 pounds in 5 weeks on HCG diet and then transitioned to P3 after 5 weeks – I couldn’t take being on P2 anymore!  The same weekend that I was transitioning to P3 I got an email from HCGChica about a program for P3.  I bought it that weekend.  I continued to lose weight by following the advice of Rayzel and using the P3tolife program/recipes.

If you were to explain to an hCGer in just a few sentences why the P3 program has been valuable to you, what would you tell them?

I was willing the follow P3toLife JUST to get my weight stabilized, but the bonus was I continued to lose weight (8 more pounds on P3), had absolutely NO problems, never did a steak day, NEVER felt hungry and the recipes were OUT of SIGHT DELICIOUS!!

P3tolife has been more than just three week transition, it is a new way of life for me!

What did the P3 program provide to you that you feel like you didn’t have before without in on past Phase 3s?

I am the luckiest girl in the world because I have never done Phase 3 without the P3 program – sorry that doesn’t help you much, but it was great for me – LOL!

How did you end up following the program – did you do the original plan, the simplified, or build your own meal plan or just tweaks to one of these? Can you give a few details of how you utilized the program and tailored it to yourself and your circumstances?

I made the recipes for myself and my family of 4.  I tripled almost all the recipes except a few I only doubled.  Because I work full time, I needed to maximize my cooking time, and I would triple the recipes and eat them for as long as I could.

For example, I made the Bacony Eggs and would eat them for breakfast for about 5 days before I would make another breakfast item, like the chocolate mug bread, and would eat that for 4 days.  I followed the recipes in “order” but it took me two weeks to get through the “Week 1” recipes, and two weeks to get through the “Week 2” recipes.

I would try to get 3 or 4 meals out of a lunch/dinner recipe so that I only had to cook about once during a work week and did most of the cooking on the weekend.

My family loved the food I was making! I’m starting the 5th week of making these recipes and I’m a few recipes in on the 3rd week of recipes.

Can you share your results – how your weight has been, while following the P3 program?

I lost 8 more pounds while on Phase 3 and it was so much easier than being on P2 because I wasn’t hungry on P3.  I really struggled with hunger on P2 because I don’t think they got my dosage right.  I’ve continued to eat the recipes on P4 and my weight is stabilized.

Were there any positive results from following the plan that surprised you, that you weren’t expecting? Have you learned anything new from the program?

I had NO idea I was going to love the food so much.  I plan to continue to eat this way going forward and I am so excited that there could be more recipes released in the future.

I have learned to love cooking – something I hated before.

What were one or two of your favorite recipes in the plan?
  • My husband’s favorite recipe is the Buffalo Chicken Salad.
  • My Son’s favorite recipe is the Creamy Garlic Mushroom Chicken w/sautéed broccoli
  • My Daughter’s favorite recipe was Spaghetti Squash and meatballs
  • My favorite recipe…..so hard to pick!……I loved the Bacony Egg cups (made triple batch twice already) and I loved the Deconstructed Pork Eggroll Bowl and the I loved Cauli mash!
Any other closing thoughts that you want to share about your experience with the program, or that might help others considering whether or not to give it a try?
  • This program takes all the planning work out of “what am I going to eat”!
  • It is easy to adapt to the program to your own needs
  • Easy to follow the video and written directions
  • Most of all – yummy to eat!

I lost 8 more pounds on P3 and it was the easiest part of this whole journey.  The peace of mind I had that all I had to do was follow the plan and I knew I would be successful and I was!

PS from Rayzel: Our interview is like…an HOUR…so there is a lot of good stuff she shared that we weren’t able to get here in the notes, so you might want to listen or watch as well!

You can enroll in the P3toLife program anytime, but I highly recommend at least a week in advance so you have time to full prep yourself to start with ease!

TAMARA’S BASIC STATS:

  • 51 years old
  • 5’4” tall
  • Current weight: 120 lbs
  • Starting weight: 170 lbs
  • Weight loss with hCG: 50 lbs
  • Size change: Size 12 to Size 2
  • Lbs lost: 50 lbs
  • Prior health conditions: Menopause and hormonal imbalance. She is very low in the following: Thyroid, Progesterone, Testosterone.

Show Note Links:

Bodyfat Testing:

You can google “your area” + “dexa scan” or “hydrostatic body fat test” or “bodpod” to find a location in your area that does these sorts of tests.

Cost is typically between $40-70. Bodpod is the cheapest, Hydrostatic is mid-range (I can mine as a pack of 3 tests to be used whenever I want for $100 which is $33 each instead of $45 to buy 1), and DEXA is the pricier but much more specific kind.

A Note About  “Bodyfat Percent” on Home Scales

I would not trust these. They are frequently inaccurate. I’d like to give you a real example of this below, at the end of Debbie’s story.

Tamara’s hCG Injection Weight Loss Story in Her Words:

Basics:  (age, height, menopause? any medical details you feel are important- ie thyroid etc).

  • Age: 51
  • Height: 5’4
  • Post Menopause (4 years now)
  • Had to get my Hormones in check – was very low in the following: Thyroid, Progesterone, Testosterone. Use a very low dosage of Hormone Replacement from my Doctor to supplement these and bring me to a normal range for my age.
How much weight you’ve lost with hCG/starting weight/ending weight/ clothing size change.  How many rounds did you do, how long was each round? stuff like that.

Started Feb 2016 – weighed in at 170 and ending at 120 – Lost 50 lbs  went from 33% body fat to 19%

Starting size: 12 – ending size 2 – I did 2 rounds of HCG.  1st one was 40 days – took 21day reset and second round was 24 days.

How long have you currently been maintaining (or where are you currently at in your hCG journey)?

Goal weight was reached – May 2016 and have been maintaining it for a year now.

Tell us how you came to be overweight and your struggles with that?

I have been thin and active all my life but as I got older found it was harder to maintain my weight.  I have always worked out and ate healthy but noticed a change in my weight drastically 5 years ago.  This was due to a hormonal imbalance  – which lead me to feel tired, overeat, indulge more in things that I had usually use to pay attention too.  Carbs, wine, etc.

What type of hCG did you use? If injections or prescription drops, what dose worked best for you?

I used injections at 125iu.

Did you ever use b12 or lipo shots and if you did what was your opinion of them?

YES and totally recommend them.  They helped me feel alert.  My hCG was mixed with the vitamin B.  But also took the b12 and lipo shots randomly while on hCG for that extra boost.  I also used lipo shots during my Phase 3 helped me out a lot.  Keeping me in line with my goal and keeping me  alert.  I still use b12 to this day and lipo shots during the Holidays (i.e. Thanksgiving and Christmas, New Years).

Rayzel’s note: You can purchase b12 shots WITH your hcg kit from the vendors on my recommendations page here:

hcgchica.com/buyhcg
What would you say your experience was the first week on phase 2? Easy or hard?  Explain.

Easy because I really wanted to make a change and was prepared to do whatever I had to do to get to my goal.  I was also very excited so see how hCG worked.  I made sure I was at the right dosage which helped and is very important to make the journey seamless.

Could also discuss how you loaded if you like.

I loaded clean and kept out bad carbs and sugars.  I did eat more fats ( i.e.  Butter, cheeses, oils, bacon, etc.).  Which helps because I am a slave to bad carbs and sugary treats.

What parts of the protocol were easier for you and which parts were more challenging? How did you handle the challenging aspects?

I would say the 2 rounds were easy for me because I prepared myself with a variety of options to keep it interesting – seasoned everything to make it edible and stayed away from restaurants and social gatherings to keep temptation at bay.   Followed your website HCGchica through the whole thing for guidance and ideas to help manage cravings.

What did you find yourself liking to eat during Phase 2/vlcd – how would you prepare your meals?
  • I start work early so by 10am I wanted something –
    • I would cut up a Grannie Smith apple and sprinkle cinnamon and stevia on it and warm it up in the microwave.
    • Cup of black coffee ( usually drink it that way anyway)
    • An orange sparkling flavored water.  i.e. Sparkling ICE brand and a scoop of l-glutamine 4.5g to keep my sweet tooth at bay.
  • Lunch :
    • 3.5 ounces of any kind of low fat meat, Fish or Poultry which I prepared in a crock pot with spices (Mrs. Dash of all flavors)
    • Vegetable medley:  Cucumber, bell pepper, red onion with balsamic.
  • Dinner
    • 3.5 ounces of a protein like Lunch but make sure it wasn’t the same to give me a variety and keep myself motivated and not bored eating the same stuff.
    • Grilled veggies i.e., broccoli, Brussel sprouts or asparagus, seasoned with Mrs. Dash (any of the flavors) and sprayed with just a couple of sprays of “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!” so make it stick and grill well.
    • In the evening I would have 10 unsalted mini gluten free pretzels, dip it in mustard and a diet coke.
    • Extra treat would be sugar free Jell-O.  (Kept a variety of that too)
  • Sometimes I would skip the apple and pretzels and have a Fage 0 Greek yogurt with cinnamon and stevia or make a morning mocha using “Muscle Milk Light.” Also, plenty of H2o!! and sparkled flavored.

What tricks do you have up your sleeve to stay sane while on Phase 2?

Variety, variety, variety as mentioned previously in my daily menu.  Not eating the same thing every day.

One day I wanted lobster so I made that with a little steak which they both weighed up to my 3.5 serving total, grilled veggies, Bai sparkling water in a champagne glass.

Desert: I had 1 single serving of “Artic Zero” salted caramel which is only 35 calories.  – This gave me that feeling of going out to a fancy dinner.  Yep, nice plate, music and even dressed up.  I was in my home but hey, I wanted to make it fancy!! lol

What Lessons have you learned during Phase 3 – give us the good and the bad! What types of things did you discover when it came to maintenance that did and didn’t work?

A very important lesson I learned in Phase 3 is that I am a structured type and to keep everything all ready to go, weighed, prepackaged so I can grab and go in auto mode without having to put too much thought into it.

I also know that I can never go back to Bad Carbs and Sugary Foods, they are my crack and I know I cannot have just a little.  It’s easy to turn it down than to stop eating it.

I tried a treat during phase 3 and ended up eating the whole bag of yogurt covered pretzels.  Was it worth it?  At the time it was, but 10 minutes later is wasn’t.  I of course forgave myself, had a steak day the next day and told myself there are so many other things I can have that agree with me and since I am doing this for the long haul, it’s not worth it. I don’t like when people try to control me so imagine a bag of cookies doing that.  Why give them (junk food) the power!!?  lol

In Phase 4: Can you tell us what types of foods you eat now in everyday life? And how is this different from what you used to eat on a normal basis?

I can eat up to 1800 calories and more if I strenuously work out (go hiking), so Breakfast, Lunch Dinner and 3 snacks in between.

I do choose wisely and make healthy choices.  I have added fats in my diet – nuts, protein, etc. this keeps me satisfied and not hungry at all.  I stick to the structure of the Phase 3.  Just more proteins, veggies, low glycemic fruit, gluten free products, and my favorite Arctic Zero, which I treat myself to every night.  I also add a glass of wine or two but keep it to a 2 day thing.  I get to choose.  Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun but try to keep it at that since it can lead to bad habit eating.

My eating habits now are healthier choices.

My mantra is “forever young!” (youth; mind, body and soul with the benefit of appearance!  Lol)   Also, bad foods are always going to be around so if I have to have something I can but weigh out the consequences.  I’m the one choosing, no one else.  If I decide to, I have no one to blame except myself.  Power of control is awesome.

What have been your tools for maintaining your weight loss?
  1. Underwater weighing 2 times a year to keep motivated and in track.
  2. New goals to look forward to and keep my life exciting. (trips, outings, etc.)
  3. Weight training twice a week; Yoga twice a week (Vinyasa Flow and Hatha)
  4. Walking my 4 doggies; hiking with friends.
  5. Sleeping in on the weekends!!!!
  6. Creating my personal Feng Shui with positive surroundings.
  7. Helping out others that want to lose weight and keep a positive healthy lifestyle.
  8. I love clothes too so that helps as well.

Do you have any memories of your life/body pre hCG that are totally different for you now?

I wished I would have known about hCG 5 years ago!!  Lol!!  But honestly everything in life comes in time for its own reasons.  I believe all experiences good and bad in our life build a stronger person.  Lessons are learned from our “stepping stones” of challenges.  I am glad everything happen in my life when it did, it only makes my story more interesting and helps me guide my friends and family in a more healthier direction.  No regrets just all respects!!!  Lol!

When you want a treat now, give us a couple examples of what you might eat? Also, are you ever able to indulge in a regular treat, like cake at a party, and still maintain?

A treat now would be my Arctic Ice,, Sugar Free Pudding cup, sugar free Jell-o, baked veggies from sprouts dipped in hummus.

As far as a regular treat, if I am at a party there are usually other friends that are watching their weight too, so we all share a dessert.  We call it sweet bonding!!  lol

What factors have you noticed to play a role in people NOT succeeding on hCG?
  1. Planning to do hCG at a busy time when they have a lot of events to go to which if not prepared with lead them to fall back into bad habits and cravings
  2. Not being able to forgive oneself if they slip up
  3. Negative thinking and letting others feed you with negative thoughts
  4. Not enough sleep.
What do you feel are the most important keys to success on the hCG protocol? If someone said they want to have the same results you have, what would you tell them?

It’s totally worth it!!!  You have to go into it prepared and in control.

Enough Sleep. Change your bad habits and craving to new ones because there are so many yummy things out there and things to do that are worth looking into, change is awesome!!

It’s nice to have a support group as well.  Keep in mind you are investing in the best thing ever, your health which is the most precious thing ever.  Forgive if you slip up, we are all human and have slipped as well.

The most important thing is to believe in yourself.

This is Tamara’s most recent body fat testing result:

Arleen’s Experience with:

the P3toLife Program During Phase 3 of the hCG Protocol

Can you give us an introduction about yourself? Basics:  (age, height, menopause? any medical details you feel are important- ie thyroid etc).

I started P2 a little over 170lbs and now I’m at 155lbs. I’m 5’7”.

This is my 4th round. It took me 2 times to lose to go down this weight and then I’ve gained and then I’ve lost and so forth.

I am a very active and outdoorsy person, we live on a lake so we go on a boat all the time and stuff. I play competitive tennis and I eat pretty healthy. Tried everything but not losing weight.

I do eat pretty healthy and I try not to eat too many carbs. I’m over 50 and I guess everything slows down at this age but still there’s no other way for me to lose weight. I’ve tried everything and I just don’t lose weight.

What ended up making you decide to try out the Phase 3 to Life program?

I’ve been watching your Phase 2 program- going online and reading it. This time, I want to do it seriously. I bought your Phase 2 Workbook. And I think the hardest part is the stabilizing. The being on the organized part where you can always eat 5 different food is pretty easy because that’s all you can eat. But when it becomes you have many more choices- what do you do?

Your P3toLife program came out a week or 2 before I started Phase 3. So it’s great for me to look through it. You’re the first program that has this.

What did the P3 program provide to you that you feel like you didn’t have before without it in past Phase 3s?

I entered Phase 3 with a great ease because I’ve looked at your coaching videos and meals in your P3toLife site. It made me not afraid to be done with Phase 2 of hCG. I was almost excited because I thought “Oh look at all this great food I can eat and it’s okay to eat this food.” So it made me excited.

This was the total opposite of how I was every other time in Phase 3 which was scared. Usually on P3 you’re scared of; what do I eat the first day? What do I eat the first week? Do I just keep eating slices of chicken breast for the rest of my life?

You get all these great menus and meals. I was like this is relaxing! This is exciting! I was looking forward to getting off of hCG and starting to eat and knowing that I’m not going to blow everything.

How did you end up following the program – did you do the original plan, the simplified, or build your own meal plan or just tweaks to one of these? Can you give a few details of how you utilized the program and tailored it to yourself and your circumstances?

I mostly did the original plan of your Phase 3 program. I put everything in the Copymethat app and meal planned it. I followed that almost 100%. I did travel during the time so when I travel I just made the meals ahead of time and pre-portioned them. My husband’s doing it with me so I made one serving for each of us for the amount of time we were out. Sometimes we were just out a whole day so I make sure the mug muffins and everything are set and ready. I ate out at a restaurant maybe twice the whole time so I try to be really strict on what your meals were.

You did come out with the Build-Your-Own meal plan and the Simplified Plan. But I wanted to try ALL the recipes so I didn’t want the simplified. ;)-

I did tweak the pork recipes. I don’t eat pork so I changed that out to chicken but I looked at the calories to make sure I got the same balance.

The recipes seem to be easy and yummy.

Also, I did yoga almost every day and I only played tennis 2x a week in my leagues and I do these half hour workouts.

Rayzel’s note:  By this time, there are now 5 weeks worth of P3 recipes in the program. The original plans have more recipes and more variety in the meals each week. The Simplified plan uses less recipes in a week, cooked in larger batches for less cooking and you eat more of the same meals to keep things…simple!  The Build-Your-Own Meal plan is designed to help you design your meal plan of P3 recipes and/or simple meal combos that fit P3 guidelines well. You get all plans when you enroll in the P3tolife program.

Can you share your tangible results from following the P3tolife program? – How your weight has been, while following the P3 program? Did you have to do any correction days during P3 this time and if so, what do you think was the cause and how did your correction day(s) go?

I totally stabilized. I lost a couple lbs from my LIW. I lost and gained a couple lbs. I only gained one time and that was my bad because I did drink a little and I weighed over my last injection weight by 0.2 lbs. So I never have to go 2 lbs over and worry about a steak day or any correction day. Mostly I was at goal or below goal.

When I ended Phase 3

I was actually 1 lb under my last injection weight.

How did you feel about the portion sizes & taste of the P3 meals? Did the portions and taste of the food make any difference in how you felt about eating/relationship with food while on p3? If you still felt hungry, how did you adapt it to add calories?

It’s hard to blindly trust it but I thought I ate so much food and it tasted so good- everything was just so amazing and you’re eating full plates of food and you’re stuffed at the end. I was sure I was going to gain weight. Then you get on the scale and you lost 1 lb or 2 more- which has never happened before. I’ve never lost on Phase 3. How can that happen?

I thought the variety was great. So you’re like “This is so good and I’m not gaining weight!” What else could you want? I also thought the recipes were kind of easy so it was a win-win for me to try all the variety. A couple of recipes I may have missed because I went to lunch but even now I will try the few that I’ve missed.

Can you share a little about your personal life- ie work full time/part time, kids or hubby or school? Would love to hear how you made the logistics work of cooking the program with whatever time constraints you deal with. How did you manage to fit in preparing the meals with your schedule each week?

What I had done was I prep as much as I can on Sundays. In my head I try to think how to make it organized. I chopped all the vegetables that I could and maybe cook some of the meat. Vegetables would last the week but the meat I maybe cook everything Sunday and it will last until Wednesday or Thursday and then I’d have to cook a 2nd time. That works with my family schedule. We have a whole weekend schedule and we have a whole week schedule.

I try not to cook every night or sometimes I do. Sometimes I’ll just have everything ready and you just throw it all together in the pot. I have an Instant Pot so that makes everything even simpler.

I have 2 Instant Pots, you can do your vegetables in one and meat in the other.

Copymethat is a recipe clipper. Easily add any recipe to your recipe box. You’ll have your own copy of the recipe, ready to edit with your tweaks and notes.

How did you utilize the program when you travel?

There was a couple of times we were overnight at places. We made sure to get a hotel with microwave and a little refrigerator. I just made the mug muffin recipes in the little mason jars. I cooked them all before I left, put the lid on it, when I got there I just have to pop them in the microwave for 30 – 60 secs and then we could eat them. Then we just put the jars in a bag to take home so it’s not messy.

We also went to my son’s competition event, we had to travel and stay there until midnight. We’d be sitting there during the whole day so sometimes you don’t really get a break from lunch so we just bring a little cooler bag. I’d put individual portions. Each is like 2 servings so I just cut half for me, half for my husband, put it in a single Tupperware and eat it while we’re watching. I’d bring an extra apple and slice up some orange so I didn’t feel deprived or like I was going to starve and had to go out buy a candy bar that was sitting out the hall. So I never had that thought to do that.

That to me is the easiest thing – to plan ahead and the mug muffins take no time to make and a few minutes to heat up.

Each week I was gone at least once a week for that whole day and maybe twice we were gone overnight. When you’re gone early morning until after midnight- it was not easy days.

You have to think ahead and be ORGANIZED. If you have the food with you then even if everybodys going out and getting burgers or whatever you’re like “Oh no, I got my yummy food here. I don’t need your greasy burger. “

I eat some of the recipes cold and I didn’t have a problem with it. You had some salads that can be eaten cold, like the Buffalo Chicken Salad. I remember, for one dinner we went back to our hotel and we just stick our food in the microwave.

What were one or two of your favorite recipes in the plan?
  • Apple Spice Mug Muffins – I think my favorite which I made a bunch more.
  • Blackberry Lime Zinger
  • Fish Taco Bowl – I made it with fish one time then I made it with leftover steak.
  • Buffalo Chicken Salad is really good.
  • Chimichurri Steak w/ Tomato Cucumber Salad
  • Greek Chicken Bowl – the dressing for that was really easy.

I never really liked the cauliflower rice before but when I made it this time, I loved it!

What do you think about the Smoothies?

I love the Mango Vanilla Coconutty Dessert Smoothie, Banana Nut Smoothie, and Blackberry Lime Zinger. Now that it’s hotter I’m going to make them more.

It feels like you’re eating ice cream and I love ice cream! So it doesn’t make you feel deprived. It tastes yummy and you’re not gaining weight from it like you would if you eat ice cream. So there’s no need to eat ice cream when you can eat this. It doesn’t taste like diet food.

Any other closing thoughts that you want to share about your experience with the program, or that might help others considering whether or not to give it a try?

To me, having the P3 program is just so easy. It’s totally worth the investment. It takes all the guesswork out of it.

I didn’t go over my weight and every time I’ve done P3 before, I’ve gained because I didn’t know when to add the almond, when to add the milk, when to eat yogurt. Then you just end up, let me try this and this and you have no idea why you gained weight the next day. So this took all that guesswork out of it which is you put so much time and effort in the P2 part of it and then you get off of it and you’re like, “Okay, what do I do now?”

I thought it is an amazing program! Hopefully, I never have to do this again. But, if I do, there would never be a second thought. And anybody I’ve talked to- my friends who are on P2, I’m like, “You have to get this program because it’s just perfect! It’s amazing! Nobody’s ever done it before so nobody knows Day 1 what do you eat?

This is all easy, laid out for you and then you have your coaching things too when you need help or how to make things. I thought all your coaching videos are motivating and helped keep you through the 3 weeks.

I wished it was longer than 3 weeks now because it just makes life so easy. You don’t have to think about what you’re going to do so I would definitely recommend it to anybody getting off P2.

Rayzel’s note: The full P3toLife program will be 7 weeks worth of meal plans/recipes once complete. Currently there are 5 weeks up in the members area, with weeks 6 and 7 coming in the next couple months!

I highly recommend you listen or watch the interview to get the full story, because we talk about quite a few details that I just can’t include in the written version of the story here.

MICHELLE’S BASIC STATS:

  • 54 years old
  • 5 feet tall
  • Current weight: 122 lbs
  • Starting weight: almost 180 lbs
  • Weight loss with hCG: over 58 observation
  • Size change: Size 14 to Size 4
  • Prior health conditions: She has celiac disease, HPT, fibromyalgia, and Hashimotos

Michelle’s hCG Injection Weight Loss Story in Her Words:

Regular hCG Journey Questions:

Basics:  (age, height, menopause? any medical details you feel are important- ie thyroid etc).

I am 53 (almost 54) 5 feet tall, and currently weigh 122 (my high school graduation weight). I was diagnosed with Celiac about 6 years ago, have HPT, fibromyalgia, and Hashimotos. I have not had a period in 9 months, so it seems I have almost completed menopause.

How much weight you’ve lost with hCG/starting weight/ending weight/ clothing size change. How many rounds did you do, how long was each round? stuff like that.

I have done 5-6 rounds of HCG over the past 5 years. Overall, I have lost more than 50 lbs. and went from a size 14 to a size 4.

This past round began in March. I did 40 days and lost 23 lbs. This is the first time I made it to 40 days (past rounds I got very sick of the diet and gave up after 30-35 days).

How long have you currently been maintaining (or where are you currently at in your hCG journey)?

I have easily maintained my weight loss for 2 months now.

Tell us how you came to be overweight and your struggles with that?

I have struggled with my weight my entire life (or at least that is my perception). In college I gained the “freshman 15” which was really more like 30. I have gained and lost weight over and over again. I gained 45 lbs when I was pregnant with my first child, and did not lose it all before gaining another 35 with my second child.

At my highest weight, I was almost 180 lbs.

I tried weight Watchers, medifast, counting calories; OverEaters Anonymous, fad diets, excessive exercise, and anything else I thought might work to lose the weight.

My mother was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia and became bed ridden at the age of 48. She lived for 15 years being bed bound, depressed and taking massive amounts of OxyContin for the pain.

When I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about 10 years ago, I got very scared. I saw where I could end up and I did not want that for myself. I was a single mother with two boys- I had to be there for them! I had a couple of bad flares where I could not lift dishes off the counter, had debilitating headaches, and even rashes.

I would make it to work most days, but suffered in pain a lot and had no energy for my children. I was depressed and scared. I found a Naturopath who did a complete work up on me, modified my medications, and found supplements to help. At this point (about 7-8 years ago), I took anti-anxiety meds, high blood pressure, and then was diagnosed with Hashimotos. Then, Celiac.

Since giving up gluten and getting on medication for my thyroid, many of my illnesses have gone away. I no longer have migraines, blood pressure s normal, have not had a Fibromyalgia flare in 5 years.

Every year on my Birthday I hike the second highest mountain in VT- because I can!

What type of hCG did you use? If injections or prescription drops, what dose worked best for you?

I used injections for all round of HCG. In this round I began at .125 (125 iu) and raised it to .15 (150 iu) after the first three weeks or so, only going up to .175 (175 iu) for the last few days. I was never hungry, my energy was always good. In this round, I lost weight every day except for 2. I am very faithful with the food plan and did not feel compelled to cheat once.

Rayzel’s note: PLEASE see my very comprehensive post on dialing in your right hCG dosage if you are struggling with hunger on this protocol – this is pretty much the ticket to fixing that the vast majority of the time:

HCG Diet Dosage

What would you say your experience was the first week on phase 2? Easy or hard? explain. Could also discuss how you loaded if you like. What parts of the protocol were easier for you and which parts were more challenging? How did you handle the challenging aspects?

I loaded for 2 days, focusing on healthy fats. As I do not eat gluten anyway, it is no problem for me to stay away form carbs.

What did you find yourself liking to eat during Phase 2/vlcd – how would you prepare your meals?

In this round there were many days I did not eat all of my food. I did make a point to eat the protein.Sometimes I would spread the food out over the course of the afternoon….2 GF crackers for a snack, apple in the afternoon, etc. I love that I don’t have to worry about salt when doing the vlcd portion of the diet.

I love dill pickles wrapped in roast beef, 2 hard boiled eggs with salt and pepper, and anything dipped in mustard!

I spent time this round actually cooking P2 chili, “dirty” rice, chicken soup, etc. Having flavorful foods, things with spices and little kick to them really helped me not get sick of the diet. Plain chicken breasts get old.

To make it easier with my hectic work schedule I would cook 2-3 days of meat on the George Foreman and have them ready to go. I gave up cream in my coffee and have not gone back! I am now a black coffee drinker!

What tricks do you have up your sleeve to stay sane while on Phase 2?
  • Drink a ton (get a perfect water bottle), lots of herb tea
  • and if I felt nervous, anxious or bored (which can be triggers to eat) I would go for a quick walk, chew a piece of gum, put hand cream on, etc.
What Lessons have you learned during Phase 3 – give us the good and the bad! What types of things did you discover when it came to maintenance that did and didn’t work?

Funny one- my alcohol tolerance is very, very low now. I cannot have more than one drink without waking up with a headache!

In Phase 4: Can you tell us what types of foods you eat now in everyday life? And how is this different from what you used to eat on a normal basis?

I have always been an “ISH” person. I hate counting calories and use to believe “everything in moderation”. I don’t think that anymore.

Since I already had the gluten free thing under my belt I have now expanded that mindset to other foods that are not good FOR ME. I have not eaten sugar at all (expect in fruit). Before this round of HCG I was very achy and had a lot of headaches.

Once I detoxed from sugar, the arthritis symptoms went away and I feel terrific! I am making much more conscious choices about what to put in my body.

I don’t worry about calories but listen to my hunger scale. It still surprises me when I push my plate away with food on it- even 2-3 bites…when I am done, I am done.

Michelle’s first email to me

Do you have any memories of your life/body pre hCG that are totally different for you now?

YES!!! And this helps me maintain!

Physically I feel SO different- blood pressure is down, energy is higher and more stable, no headaches, body aches, less fuzzy brain. I easily walk 5 miles and pop out of bed in the morning instead of rolling and grunting.

When you want a treat now, give us a couple examples of what you might eat? Also, are you ever able to indulge in a regular treat, like cake at a party, and still maintain?

TREATS:

  • Chocolate Delight
  • Glass of red wine
  • Apple and peanut butter
  • Potato chips
  • Ice coffee with ½ and stevia.

I do not indulge at parties.

Recently I “treated” myself to a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store that was seasoned. I got SO sick from the preservatives in it that it was a good reminder to stay away from anything you don’t know what is in it. Again, I have been gluten free for so long, I cope with it well.

At my office we celebrate birthdays. We have had several recently and I watch everyone else eat. If there are berries, I will eat a few of those. Sometimes I feel like I stick out and get embarrassed about being different but in the end, I realize it is what I need to do to stay healthy!

We had a pizza party the other day and a coworker got a GF/dairy free pizza just for me. I really didn’t want to eat it because I was newly in P3 but felt obligated. I had one piece, which settled fine, but did not want any more.

What factors have you noticed to play a role in people NOT succeeding on hCG?

The notion of “I can’t”. This is true for everything in life- if you think it is too hard, then it will be.

One has to “psych” themselves up to ‘I can do anything for X days’.

What do you feel are the most important keys to success on the hcg protocol? If someone said they want to have the same results you have, what would you tell them?
  • You need to be in the right headspace for success.
  • You have to be ready to give up your old life, way of thinking.
  • Food is FUEL. It can heal you or harm you, depending on how you use it.

HCG can be a permanent solution, not just a tool to lose the same 10 lbs over and over again (as it was for me). It is a way to see results fast but more importantly to detox your body and get back to a baseline from which you can experiment and see what your body likes and doesn’t like. It is an opportunity to focus on you. Listen, feel, get healthy and stay healthy.

Michelle’s Experience with:

THE P3TOLIFE PROGRAM DURING PHASE 3 OF THE HCG PROTOCOL

Rayzel’s Note: Michelle purchased P3tolife and ended up using it more for inspiration, support and ideas, but followed her own method for actual eating during P3, which is fine! I just wanted to clarify that. She mentions increasing P2 foods in Phase 3, and this totally something you can choose to do as well. The P3tolife program however is not designed this way and provides a lot of variety in food and flavor right off the bat and women do stabilize fantastic as well when following this! I just wanted to be sure there is no confusion over what you would be getting if you purchase the P3tolife program, and also, it’s just nice to know we have choices depending on what sounds more appealing or safest for our own particular bodies.

What were your biggest concerns when contemplating going into P3?

Regaining the weight, as I have in the past.

If you were to explain to an hCGer in just a few sentences why the P3 program has been valuable to you, what would you tell them?

I enjoy the P3tolife community. It has helped me stay focused and given me the next level of information and support. I really enjoy the recipes.

What did the P3 program provide to you that you feel like you didn’t have before without it in past Phase 3s?

A place to go to keep a good P3 in the forefront of my mind. The success stories, some people with similar situations, gave me ideas.

How did you end up following the program – did you do the original plan, the simplified, or build your own meal plan or just tweaks to one of these? Can you give a few details of how you utilized the program and tailored it to yourself and your circumstances?

I began my P3 by eating P2 foods, just more of them. I really, really slowly added more calories and more variety. I never added more than 1 or 2 new foods per day and really paid attention to how my body felt and how my weight fluctuated the next day. I found that dairy and nuts were not my friends…..especially in the first few weeks. In addition, I used intermittent fasting to keep my weight in the two pound range. In the 7 weeks since ending P2 my weight has settled 2 pounds less than LDW. It has been relatively easy to maintain that.

Did you have to do any correction days during P3 this time and if so, what do you think was the cause and how did your correction day(s) go?

I have had to do a few “unofficial” correction days, fasting until dinner, eating only P2 foods. I believe eating nuts and dairy too soon were the cause of the weight gain, as well as, too much exercise, too soon.

Can you share your tangible results from following the P3tolife program? – how your weight has been, while following the P3 program?

The P3tolife program has given me another tool for my toolbox. Being able to hear Rayzel’s voice and encouragement, a new recipe to try, listening to interviews kept me motivated. I read Weightloss Apocalypse and have a better understanding about the science of how my body works and to really internalize the hunger scale.

Can you share a little about your personal life- ie work full time/part time, kids or hubby or school? Would love to hear how you made the logistics work of cooking the program with whatever time constraints you deal with. How did you manage to fit in preparing the meals with your schedule each week?

I work 55-60 hours per week between two jobs. I live with my partner who has been very supportive (and sometimes frustrated) with my journey. He used P2 as a reason to eat take out Chinese and lots of bread. As I reintroduced foods, I did more cooking with mixed reviews from my boyfriend. I typically cook on Sundays, a couple of meals for the week. With such a busy schedule it is difficult for me to cook a fresh dinner every night. I made sure I had some “staples” around, chocolate delight, hard boiled eggs, protein powder for smoothies, apples, tuna,  frozen berries. I have to pack lunch and dinner two days a week and ate a lot of salad. In my desk drawer I keep Quest protein bars and Kay’s protein snacks. I use to also keep raw almonds but no longer.

Have you struggled on past p3’s and if so what were your struggles? Did the P3 program help address these struggles/how so?

This is my first successful P3. I went back to old eating habits too quickly. I would maintain my weight loss for a few months but over time, ended up gaining it all back again.

Were there any positive results from following the plan that surprised you, that you weren’t expecting? Have you learned anything new from the program?

The best thing about using the P3 program has been the “tested recipes” and using the hunger scale. I also really use the intermittent fasting technique quite successfully.

Any other closing thoughts that you want to share about your experience with the program, or that might help others considering whether or not to give it a try?

If you follow the plan, you lose weight. To keep it off means truly feeling the results of your efforts. Feeling good feels better than eating a piece of cake.

What type of hCG did you use?

Injections prescribed by my Naturopath. There is a local compounding pharmacy and it was mailed to me with syringes.

Note: For the rest of you who don’t live next door to Michelle 😉 you can get hCG injections or prescription pellets or drops online, from your couch, without a prior prescription from these 4 online hCG sources on my blog – they all have their own medical staff and prescribe you your hCG, the ship you your kit.

Andrea’s Experience with:

the P3toLife Program During Phase 3 of the hCG Diet Protocol

This is not your first rodeo with hCG and since you have done it before. Do you want to give us maybe just a little background on that in the synopsis?

This is probably around number five or six. I started about 2009 where I did three rounds really well. I lost 100 lbs. – from 240 lbs. to 140 lbs. Slowly, over the years, you slip habits and go back. So, I decided to do another set of rounds this year to try and get back to where I want to be. Because I didn’t add exercise like I should have before. So, that’s my goal this time.

What were your biggest concerns when you contemplated going into P3? What was the thing you were always most concerned about?

Well, it was what to add and when to add it – because  the guidelines are, “Eat whatever you want. Just don’t eat sugar and not much fat.” Which, you know. Wow, that’s really open-ended. And I get stuck in the “Okay, I’m realizing I’m eating grilled chicken and a salad, and grilled fish and cabbage again. Just because I know that’s safe.” And you know, you can’t do that.

Well, if you were to explain to another hCGer, just kind of in a few sentences, what the P3 program and why it is invaluable to you. What would you tell them?

The P3tolife program takes the guess work out of it. It puts down what you can eat, when you can eat.  After coming off of hCG, like I said, grilled chicken and grilled fish and cabbage and spinach and salad,

it just opens up a wide variety of food.

And slowly let you add them, add more calories. That’s just all the guess work.

How did you end up following the “P3 to Life” program yourself? Because there’s the Original plan, there’s the Simplified plan, and there’s kind of like the Build-your-Own kit. Did you follow anyone exactly? Did you make tweaks? Like, how did you use it for your life and family?

I pretty much followed the Simplified Plan. But I tweaked it to the end because I realized I ended up repeating some of the steps, few ones and never really actually did the all the three ones – recipe-wise anyways. But I pretty much did just the Simplified. Because that worked well doing it in small batches, having several things ready to choose from each day.

Rayzel’s note: the Simplified plan uses less recipes in a week, cooked in larger batches for less cooking and you eat more of the same meals to keep things…simple! The original plans has more recipes and more variety in the meals each week. You get both plans when you enroll in the P3tolife program.

When you were doing your cooking, was it for you or for family members as well?

I did it both ways. During the week since I work full-time, I did it mostly batches for myself. But on the weekends, actually last weekend, I did chicken curry in the InstantPot for the whole family. Because every time I would cook it, they’re like, “That smells so good.” They’re deprived because they’re eating pizza and I could eat that.

Tell us about your personal life, what responsibilities you have, and maybe more detail on how you make it work.

I work full-time for a college as a financial administrator. So, we were right at the end of spring semester, beginning of summer semester, so it was a really busy time for me. And I have two daughters. Both were graduating from high school last week. And my husband lives with us as well. As well as my mom so we’re five. So, we’re pretty busy. But I would just like, when I come in at night time, I cook. I have some Simplified plans, like you cook this day for these three days, and you cook this day – and I just set it up to do that. My girls are old enough to help cook and do some prep work as well as my husband. It worked well.

How did you feel about the portion sizes & taste of the P3 meals? Did the portions and taste of the food make any difference in how you felt about eating/relationship with food while on p3?

Some of the food was like a mountain of food.

I was like, “Oh my gosh. I can eat all of this?” and then be like, “I am so stuffed.” And then, the next morning when the scales don’t change, you’re like, “Oh, I can actually eat proper amounts of food and still maintain my weight.” So, that was an awesome aspect of it.

Never felt so stuffed several times. Like the spaghetti squash – I can remember eating that. I’m like thinking, “Oh my gosh, I don’t think I can eat all of this. This is just so much food.” IT WAS AWESOME!

Taste was one thing. I think I sent emails to you saying that the recipes are just awesome. There’s so many textures and tastes. You know, I felt like I was eating real food again which I haven’t dared to do for such a long time. Because you got to do diet forever and ever and ever just to maintain what you feel like. But this was not like dieting or anything. This was like living a full life with wonderful food. And I plan on keeping some of the recipes and doing them. Because some of them have the maintenance addition that you can add avocado – and I plan on using those. Because that’s the kind of stuff that we love to eat at our house.

Did you have any correction days during Phase 3 with the program?

My Phase 3 actually got off to a really rocky start. Because we had a couple of crises and we had to run out of town and I had just started P3. So, I totally slipped off the wagon and couldn’t do P3tolife at the beginning. I had like two or three “wow” meals. And I went up. I gained like 6 pounds. Once we were able to come back into town, the stress was gone, I got right back on the wagon. I actually went and dropped nine pounds following P3tolife.

So, I did do a correction day when we came back from that trip and I knew I was up six pounds. I did one correction day and went down like two and a half pounds. But then, I immediately started back on the “week 1” meals of the P3 program. And I actually went down less light than I had ended. So, it worked out well for me.

So even though you have the correction day from – because you had to go out of town and you just ate off protocol stuff. But then, when you came back, it sounds kind of like you started P3 over in a way. And then, from that point on, did you have any steak days?

No. None after that. I didn’t have to have any steak days and everything just stabilized right out.

What were your actual tangible results from following the program overall? What were your results from the program?

Actually, once I got strictly on the protocol after some stressful time at the beginning, I stabilized 2 pounds less than my last VLCD. So basically, I lost 2 pounds and I’m still right at that – I was up a little bit this morning because we celebrated graduation last night with two Japanese takeout but I’m still within my two pounds.

In the program there are these Phase 3 dessert smoothies. Tell me what you think of those?

Those are awesome. I actually took my Smart Stick – an immersion blender–  to work. Our air conditioning was out one day last week. I took my Smart Stick to work. And with all my different flavors I was like, “Okay, guys, I can make Triple Chocolate, I can make Peppermint Patty, I can make Snicker Doodle.” So I made them for some of my co-workers. And they’re like, “There’s really only 60 calories in this? There’s only 70 calories in this?”. They were just amazed.

I was using the Swerve powder (a brand of erythritol, a sugar free sweetener- we utilize this in small quantities in the P3toLife program as a sweetener for P3 dessert smoothies as well as a few of the breakfast muffins). And then, I have the pure stevia drops in there. And I told them, I said, “These are not sweet…” – well and most of them are trying to lose weight. So, they’ve been out on all the sweet stuff too. So it wasn’t like it was not sweet to them. I like mine not so sweet. I like dark chocolate without all the sweetener anyways so we would just adjust it to them.

Have you struggled on past P3s before when you were just doing things on your own? What were the struggles and how was it? Well, we’ve kind of talked about how things are different this time with the program. But how has it been in the past?

In the past, I used to use a calorie counter. So, I was really trying to keep it in the right. You know, just add a little bit of calories at a time and add stuff. So, I would get so frustrated. I’d be in two weeks and I’m still only eating 900 calories and I know that if you just keep it down you’re just slowing your metabolism down.

So, usually, what would happen is I would just go back into safe zone. Grilled chicken salad, grilled fish, cabbage, and apple. And then, I’m like, “I’m only like 600 calories today.” So at night I can have a spoonful of peanut butter or two or three. Yeah, so, you would try and then you’d get frustrated. And usually what would happen is I would stay really low calorie and then something will happen and I’m just like, “I’m hungry and I’m frustrated” and I would just eat something or maybe do several days of eating.

I know there were some of my rounds of P3, I stayed really, really, low calorie. And then the next round of hCG, I didn’t do very well. Because I’d slow my metabolism down or my body adjusted to really low calories already. Or if I didn’t do, you know, if I went on to maintenance phase, I just started gaining back really quick because I just got frustrated and then just like started eating.

So, I think that this P3 maintenance program is put in a much “Eat Better” setup for much better success. I’ve stabilized really quickly (Rayzel’s note: this is considering that the P3toLife plan takes you gradually from 950 calories all the way up to close to 1500 calories by the end) and I didn’t stabilize really quickly in the past even though I was only eating like 900-1200 calories. I still go up and I can’t eat that – try this – sort of thing. So, this has helped a lot to tell you what you can eat. And now, you have some of the recipes, fortunately. You can maintain by adding in avocado, mayonnaise, or something to it. And that’s going to be very helpful.

Were there any positive results from following the “P3 to Life” program that kind of surprised you? That like, as you were going through it, you thought it would be different and then the results were different than what you would’ve thought?

I was really surprised at the variety of stuff that you could put into a recipe and keep it within the protocol. Like coconut cream – I mean, oh my stars! That’s like the most wonderful ingredient ever. You can eat it on P3 and still not gain weight, stabilize, and just being able to have that so much variety I think was really surprising.

I wasn’t expecting it to be so much variety – we’ve got Chinese, we’ve got Buffalo chicken, we’ve got spicy Philly –  all these different things. The results were wonderful. I was expecting the plan to be the kind of the same bland P2 stuff just a little elaborated – not this wonderful variety.

Did you have one or two favorite recipes? I know you said you liked a lot of them, but was there a couple of favorites?
  • The Indian Curry was probably one of my top favorites. I made it for myself, I made it for my family. And I share it with my boss at work – because she introduced me to Indian food a couple of years ago. She thought it was awesome. That is probably my top favorite.
  • I like the deconstructed pork egg roll and the pork with butternut squash sauce and the zucchini noodles.
  • Peppermint patty dessert smoothie is my all-time favorite because I love your peppermint patties.
  • What really surprised me is the Snickerdoodle, and I’m a chocolate fanatic. And a lot of the time I choose Snickerdoodle over one of the chocolate ones because it’s something about the Snickerdoodle that I really, really like. I did the batch toppings. I still have mine in my own container, so I got it ready to go any time I want it.
Was there any other closing thoughts for anyone else who is considering whether or not it’s worth their time and money to do the program?

I would tell them, the Phase 3 to Life program is definitely worth the time and the money to spend on it, because having had past P3s that did not go well, and I think it actually set me up for failure and maintenance as well as failure and another hCG round. I think that it is just really incredible to get that experience. Like you said, it’s a kind of like a training ground for all these different recipes.

In American culture, we place some spice, some flavor with fat and this gives you a chance to experiment with all these different flavors and spices that you can add virtually no calories but lots and lots of taste. I would definitely not skip. But IF I had to pay for it to do it on every P3 round, I would pay for it for every P3 round.

Rayzel’s note: But you don’t! It’s a one time enrollment fee for the program to keep it for life. 🙂

This interview is part of what is now a plethora of weight loss success stories with real everyday women (and men! I highly recommend you listen or watch the interview to get the full story, because we talk about quite a few details that I just can’t include in the written version of the story here.

Details on Halo Top Ice Cream

Here’s an example of the ingredients in one of Halo Top’s flavors that I’ve tried- “birthday cake” – TO. DIE. FOR. Which is why for me, hcgchica, personally, I can’t eat this stuff because it’s too good and makes me want to binge, BUT for Alexandra it’s fine. Ingredients of birthday cake flavor of Halo Top: “Milk and cream, eggs, erythritol, prebiotic fiber, milk protein concentrate, organic cane sugar, vegetable glycerin, rainbow sprinkles (sugar, cornstarch, vegetable oil, glucose, natural colors, soy lecithin), sea salt, natural flavors, organic carob gum, organic guar gum, organic stevia.”

How much actual sugar is in this pint? For the whole pint of Birthday Cake flavor, it has 24g of “sugar” (not carbs which contains the fiber and sugar alcohols and such that we are not concerned with). There are 4g of carbs in 1 teaspoon of sugar, so each pint if you eat the whole thing, which, who are we kidding, that’s TOTALLY what we are going to do, has 6 teaspoons of actual sugar in it. This is indeed less than a pint of Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate chip cookie ice-cream which has 100g of sugar – WOA. So that is 25 teaspoons of sugar in 1 pint. 6 teaspoons of sugar vs. 25. 24g of sugar vs. 100g of sugar.  Okay, I get it. That’s definitely a lot less, and for someone who is not a sugar-addict like me, this could be a GREAT choice for a low sugar dessert.

Basic Stats for Alexandra’s hCG Diet Journey:

  • She did 4 short rounds
  • She is now maintaining at 145lbs from starting weight of over 200lbs
  • More than 55 lbs lost with hCG
  • She has a condition called stress-induced narcolepsy where she just fell asleep when she’s stressed.

Basics:  (age, height, menopause? any medical details you feel are important- ie thyroid etc).

Right now I am 24. When I started this journey, it was right when I hit 20. I felt like I needed a change, you know? I am 5’1 and a half, the “half” is important, and something that I struggled with is Stress-induced Narcolepsy, so anytime my heart rate and stress levels gets above a certain level, I actually fall asleep. So, I was always like, really hesitant, to work out and stuff because I don’t want to pass out in the middle of a gym sesh.  So, if I get really, really scared or get really, really stressed, I just pass out. It’s weird.

How much weight you’ve lost with hCG/starting weight/ending weight/ clothing size change.  How many rounds did you do, how long was each round? stuff like that.

So, I went through a really, really tough time. Actually, like ended an engagement and everything, and kind of let myself eat my emotions, really. I got to a point where I wasn’t even getting on the scale anymore because I was so scared to see the number. But I turned 20 and I saw, you know, all my friends and sorority sisters having so much fun and being so carefree, and I couldn’t do the same because I was so self-conscious. So, I realized I needed to make a change for me to improve my quality of life. I don’t exactly know what my starting weight was, I just know that I stopped weighing myself after I hit over 200 lbs. And I had a handmade clothes, so I even took the extreme of going to like, an artist colony, where they made their own clothes, so I wouldn’t have to look at sizes. But right now I’m 145 lbs and a size 4.

I did a total of four rounds. Just because I wanted to take it slow, I did the shorter round each time, and I wanted to make sure that I have the willpower to keep it off before I did the next o

ne, you know? So I would do one, and then I’d wait a year to see if I’ve kept off the entire year, then I’d do another. So, I got here in a four-year process

Tell us how you came to be overweight and your struggles with that?

When I was a kid, I was super chubby, like super chubby, and then I slimmed down kind of as I reached the end of high school, and then, you know, gained all of it back; but what I did during that time is I would go with my mom to weight watch meetings, I’d go with my mom to Jenny Craig meetings and get all the food and all that. I tried all of the that diets with her, trying to get to somewhere that felt healthy, and I would lose weight and then I’d gain it all back and more, right? And I realized that the quick fix stuff, doing it very quickly, wasn’t working, and for something to change, something else needed to change. So, I figured I’d might as well do something that is very different than anything I had done before, to get a different result.

What type of hCG did you use? If injections or prescription drops, what dose worked best for you?

So, my mom grew up in Mexico City, and apparently that is their solution, you know? For anytime somebody gains a little weight, you go to the doctor, you get your injections, you’re good to go.

So it’s a very like, “Oh yeah, just go get your shots.” Like, very casual thing. But we had to–because it wasn’t exactly like, approved of or really well known here in the States–we had to go to Mexico, do the protocol, and then, you know, come back. So, I remember being about 17 or 18 and seeing her go down to Mexico for about six weeks and then come back, and she was transformed and after that– Yeah, seeing her transformation, I was like “Well, I’ll keep that in mind.”

You know, I didn’t change my dosage. I’m going to be honest, I haven’t done much experimentation. I just kind of did the standard one. This is going to sound really lame, but it would go to the 25 mark on the needle. I mixed the hcg myself. I mixed 5000iu hCG with 5ml bac water. So that’s 250iu.

There was only a one round where I kind of played around with dosing a little bit, but it was because I was also exercising during it. I found out that didn’t work for me.

hcg-diet-interviews-after-2-rounds

“After 2 rounds – better, still heavy. Was 175ish at the time”

What would you say your experience was the first week on phase 2? Easy or hard? explain. Could also discuss how you loaded if you like. What parts of the protocol were easier for you and which parts were more challenging? How did you handle the challenging aspects?

I usually gain about three to four pounds loading to be honest with you. The first three rounds, I dirty loaded. Just bingeing everything in sight, especially with the first and second rounds, it kind of matched my lifestyle at the time. So, I was like, “Let’s do this. I have permission.”

But the most recent one, I kind of looked at your philosophy of clean loading, actually, and sort of looking more into what that translated into, as far like meals and weight gain, and just where you end up. So I tried that, and I didn’t gain as much weight. I gained about a pound and a half.  It made the first days so much easier to do clean loading. Because those first few days, just the starch difference, I felt like I was like, grounded. And of course, there is leftovers, I would just like, watch my friends or my family like, eat the leftovers just so upset with life. The second round–not the second round, the fourth round–the second loading type, it was a completely different experience because the leftovers were still, you know, somewhat healthy compared to the alternative. So, I wasn’t as like, you know, antsy about it, I guess. I actually enjoyed the transition rather than like, resenting it.

And…

honestly, the struggles that you’ve mentioned with binge eating and not being able to control that- that is what influenced me to try the clean loading

because I would notice that in a week and a half coming, up to my loading days, I would like, just eat that entire time because I knew like, there was permission to do that.

So, with hCG, I always am a lot more productive and a lot more happier of a person, right? Because I can get so many things done, and I never run out of energy (Rayzel’s note: not everyone feels like this on hCG and it can even very from round to round with the same individual – I myself felt GREAT on some rounds like she described, and then a couple of my rounds I felt really tired and had to lay super low. So don’t think something is gravely amiss if you are on Phase 2 right now and feeling tired!). So, it made me crave working out; but when I think of working out, what I think of is like, lifting and lifting heavy, not like a casual walk on the treadmill. So I would go on the gym and try to lift heavy and then be starving afterwards, because my body craved protein to recover, and then I didn’t know how to supplement it, and I hadn’t done enough research to really know how to approach that, really, so I decided it is probably not the best time to do this. I can wait, you know, three more weeks and then do it afterwards.

Rayzel note: See my series about hCG and Exercise and how to figure out if/how you can do it on hCG or not.

What did you find yourself liking to eat during Phase 2/vlcd – how would you prepare your meals?

I did the traditional 500 calorie. What I did–and this is actually something that I didn’t think of much–the first three rounds that I did, I kept starchy veggies in there- like green beans, for example. Because I found these microwavable ones that were so easy, and they didn’t impact my weight loss, I didn’t even think twice. it was totally fine, there was no plateaus, there were no blocks. Even, you know, the plateau that you get about halfway through, didn’t even happen. I was so elated.

And then the most recent round I was like “What am I doing wrong?” I kept like hitting these plateaus and struggling. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong and then I realized the minute that I switched off the green beans all of a sudden– all of my issues went away. So, it may have been that we’re like, hitting where I need to be, like more consistent, you know? Or really sticking to the protocol more, but it was very interesting.

Rayzel note: It does seem like when you get leaner, you can’t always get away with some modifications to the hCG protocol. So if something was working in prior rounds that was “rogue” but you are getting tinier and struggling, try going back to basics.

What Lessons have you learned during Phase 3 – give us the good and the bad! What types of things did you discover when it came to maintenance that did and didn’t work?

Rayzel note: Also see the excerpt from our interview where she talks about utilizing my P3tolife Program!

So, the first three times–yeah, it was kind of a crap shoot. I didn’t realize you had to ramp up, I didn’t do my research very well. So, you know, with calories you have to do 700 and then 900, to an extent, until you get back up to a good range. It was so rocky. I would look at the scale and be like, “What did I change that could have caused this number to go up? How do I get it back down?” And so, it was a lot of second guessing myself, and trial and error until, I finally found a place where I found homeostasis. This last time, well, I made it more plant-based, and that helped.

So, for example, instead of using like, regular milk, like cow’s milk, I would use cashew milk. Instead of eating a ton of meat, I would use like, pea protein or different things like that. So, everything that I ate was very plant-based. And very well-measured for the first time.

hcg-diet-interviews-alexandra-at-160lbs

“After 3rd round, fell off the bandwagon for a sec & was so angry w myself – you can see it in my eyes lol About 160 here”

Rayzel note: I love that she documented this and is telling the honest story- we ALL fall off the bandwagon. We all make mistakes and ask ourselves, why did I screw that up? Everything was going so well. It doesn’t matter if you’ve done the same- you can turn this thing around with the right timing and a strategy.

In Phase 4: Can you tell us what types of foods you eat now in everyday life? And how is this different from what you used to eat on a normal basis?

Ever since you released your “P3 To Life” program – that’s what I’ve been using. I’ve been adapting a lot of the recipes that you put in there to make them a little bit higher calorie, a little bit more maintenance. Your Chia Pudding for example – like I’ll add an extra protein scoop or you know, just little things. I got to say my favorite is the Pad Thai though. It’s more than I would’ve made for myself like volume-wise. But then, you look at like the stats behind it – like the calories and macros – and it’s awesome

What have been your tools for maintaining your weight loss?

What I realized I had to do personally is I had to change the way that I thought about eating. So, before I came from like, “What can I get away with?”

And now, I look first at as an expression of self-love. Which sounds like super easy but it’s like an expression of self-love.

If I was making a meal for somebody else, what would I want to do to nourish them? And just as we are selfless bred of people, I want to be selfish for myself.

So, that’s my mentality when I start prepping meals is, “What is the best love that I can give myself and my body?” whether if it’s plant-based or has a little meat in there. It took a lot of introspection because you can read anything about diets. And there’s all these articles. All you have to do is do a google search and you’ll be inundated but you need to look at yourself and what works for you personally. It’s going to be different for everybody.

Do you have any memories of your life/body pre hCG that are totally different for you now?

I’ve always kind of eaten for emotion. I was a little bit weird as a kid, you know, the kid that didn’t really talk to anyone, just like, sat in the corner and read, and that kid is easy to pick on. So, instead of like confronting people or, you know, dealing with it or talking about it (which I was encouraged to do), I just ate about it for awhile. And, that just made it worse. It became this vicious cycle until, yeah, something needed to change. it’s to the point that some of my sorority sisters even like, I’ll see them now and they don’t recognize who I am.

I think I’m one of those few people with like, reverse dysmorphia, I think. So, even when I was at my heaviest I’m like “I’m awesome.”

But then I would look at the pictures after and be like, “What have I done?”, you know? But in the moment, I always thought it was great. So, when I would lose the weight I would just be like, “Wait, what? Like, this is me??”

hcg-diet-maintaining-weight-loss

Alexandra maintaining her hCG Diet weight loss

When you want a treat now, give us a couple examples of what you might eat? Also, are you ever able to indulge in a regular treat, like cake at a party, and still maintain?

I’m madly in love with Halo Top because my thing was ice cream. Like, even how I would study for finals before, starting to get healthy, I would get my pint of ice cream and my energy drink and that’s how I would study. It was awful practice.

There are 12 flavors and my favorite is Lemon Cake. It’s 240 calories a pint for my lemon cake one.

I served this to my fiancé and he didn’t know the difference. That was the real test. He didn’t know it wasn’t real ice cream. And he won’t eat anything “diet”.

What do you feel are the most important keys to success on the hcg protocol? If someone said they want to have the same results you have, what would you tell them?

I would say make it fun for yourself rather than making it like, “Oh, I have to eat this.” or “I have to do this for this amount of time.” Make it fun for yourself somehow. So, I would invite my fiancé – who was then my boyfriend – and we would cook together all my meals for the next week of the very low-calorie diet. So, we’d be sitting there like chopping veggies and just having a great time, right? So if you want to like bring your friends into it – but make it fun somehow.

I know a friend of mine that got started on it after seeing my transformation. She started incorporating like family recipes but modifying them to meet the low-calorie protocol. So, like Ceviche for example, taking the fish and the lime juice and then all the little veggies. Just make it FUN.

Wait You Did P3tolife??

When I Found Out Accidentally that She Used my P3toLife hCG Diet Maintenance Program

How did I not know this?

Alex: And kind of more recently, ever since actually you released your “P3 To Life” program – that’s what I’ve been using.

Rayzel: Oh, really? Oh my gosh! I didn’t even know you had it. You little sneaker – like, hiding things from me, you know? Now, that program, you must be kind of adapting it a little because that’s actually more of a high meat protein program but you can still probably work with it (rayzel note: she had transitioned to a more plant-based diet at this point). So, how are you utilizing it? I’m curious about that.

Alex: Yeah. So, like you said, I’ve been adapting a lot of the recipes that you put in there to make them a little bit higher calorie (because she is working out and in Phase 4 by this point), a little bit more maintenance, versus – you know…

Rayzel: Right. Because you’re in maintenance too – right.
Alex: Yeah. So your Chia Pudding for example – like I’ll add an extra protein scoop or you know, just little things. I got to say my favorite is the Pad Thai though.

Rayzel: Oh, really?

Alex: Miracle noodles are the best.

Rayzel: Awesome! It makes it like a nice big meal, you know?

Alex: It does. I think that’s what I liked most about your program – is that I feel like I’m eating so much but it’s so super healthy.

Rayzel: I’m so glad to hear that. That’s great. And that’s nice to hear coming from you too since you’re in early Phase 4. And like you said, you’re adjusting it a little bit but just that the portion sizes are generous then.

Alex: Oh, absolutely. It’s more than I would’ve made for myself like volume-wise. But then, you look at like the stats behind it – like the calories and macros – and it’s awesome you know?

Rayzel: Yeah. And the perks on the pudding right? So, like when you wake up and you weigh yourself, things are okay.

Alex: Yeah, absolutely. And it’s taken the thinking out of it and I still get to eat awesome food right? Like that cream of mushroom that’s with coconut milk?

Rayzel: Yes, yes.

Alex: Awesome. You would never be able to tell. And then, I get a ton of broccoli with it so it’s just very filling, very good.

Rayzel: Good. Oh, thank you so much. Well, that was totally an unexpected testimonial. Thank you. That’s so fantastic. That’s great. And I liked that you talked about the comparison to past P3s too because that’s kind of what made me realize that it was needed.

Alex: It is, yeah.

Rayzel: It’s because I was like you. Like, it was rocky. I did maintain in the end but it was rocky. It was so much guest work. It was really stressful. Half of P3 you spend the whole day being like, “Okay, I need to … today.” or “Why isn’t it going so well? It’s going up. Let me try to figure out why and what I should eat today.” you know?

Alex: Yeah. It’s like, in this transition period, if I run around the block, will it hurt or help?

Rayzel: Yeah. So, I just felt like, “You know, we need…” and then, I would interview. You know, I’ve been doing all these interviews a long time now. We’re in the episodes of between 50 and 60 now. And I would just notice that, “Hey, you know, every time someone is maintaining and did well on Phase 3, they pretty much tell me that they gradually raise their calories. And usually, the dairy and nuts thing got left out til later – in general.” So, I was like, “Hmm. There’s a pattern here. It’s not what I was doing.”

Alex: Yeah. No, that’s true. In the first couple rounds, the first thing I would go to is cheese. Like, I’d do the exact protocol and then add the calorie worth in cheese. That’s probably not the best way.

Rayzel: Right. Because it’s low-carb.

Alex: Probably not the best way to go about it.

Rayzel: Yeah. But that’s the thing, you know? None of us can be blamed. Like, we’ve been through the low-carb revolution and we’re like, “Hey, I can have a jar of cashews and I’m good because it’s low-carb or the cheese.” and then, once I started like actually planning the program and like getting into macros. Like, “Wow. This tiny little bit of nuts has 250 calories.” You know? When you’re trying to gradually introduce in P3 and you ate just a thousand calories of almonds. I mean, you would not be content.

Alex: No. And that’s something that I thought was brilliant from your program too – was the nutritional yeast? I’ve never heard of it before your program.

Rayzel: Cool.

Alex: So to make it taste like cheese but then not have the calorie count.

Heather’s Experience with:

the P3toLife Program During Phase 3 of the hCG Protocol

If you were to explain to an hCGer in just a few sentences why the P3 program has been valuable to you, what would you tell them?

I needed structure, and this gave it to me. Going from “eat these exact things” to “eat everything except starch” just didn’t work for me. Also, the Phase 3 program helped me to eat a lot of things I wouldn’t have, so I learned that my boundaries aren’t near as restrictive as I thought they were.

What did the P3 program provide to you that you feel like you didn’t have before without in on past Phase 3s?
  • Macro guidelines
  • Variety
  • Courage to eat something besides nuts and cheese
  • It allowed me to have a meal with my family, I literally haven’t done that in years.
How did you end up following the program – did you do the original plan, the simplified, or build your own meal plan or just tweaks to one of these? Can you give a few details of how you utilized the program and tailored it to yourself and your circumstances?

I did the original plan, it came out the day I started P3! I tailored it slightly, when necessary (we don’t like mushrooms), and it was perfect! I had a mug bread for lunch every day, with an added scoop of protein powder because that was so easy to take to work.

I love following lists and spreadsheets, so I looked at the weeks recipes, put them on our menu and went for it. I cook breakfast and dinner every day already, so it just wasn’t hard to do, also my daughter and I have been gluten free for years, so this worked really well for the whole family, and we were familiar with most of the ingredients.

Can you share your results – how your weight has been, while following the P3 program?

I didn’t have to do a single correction day!

I did Phase 3 for 4 weeks, because I know my body, I never went more than 1.8 lbs over my LIW, but for 25 days of the 28 I was within 1 lb!

How did you feel about the portion sizes & taste of the P3 meals? Did the portions and taste of the food make any difference in how you felt about eating/relationship with food while on p3?

They were perfect for me…I have an issue where I rarely feel full, so volume and quantity are a huge deal for me, also I’m feeding a weight lifting teenage boy who wants to eat healthy but wants to get full.

Everything was delicious. I had never tasted curry before and was so surprised that we loved it. If there was an ingredient that we just don’t like then I replaced it. I used riced cauliflower several times and the taste and volume of it was great. I was just so thankful to learn that I can eat a nice variety and volume of food and still maintain my weight.

Heather’s Email #1:

Girl you are on FIRE  this is perfect!!! Thanks so much!  There are just some days that I’m “craving something” and this will allow me to create a meal for that craving! I usually stabilize on a ketogenic diet. As matter fact I have been keto for five years except for when I am doing hCG. Here’s the thing I don’t want to live the rest of my life this way!

It’s too hard to stay under 25 carbs a day, one slip up and I’m up 3 pounds. So this last last round of hCG I did to lose some pounds I had gained, but also to force my body to lose weight at 30-34 carbs each day on phase 2. I am trying to truly resent my body so in phase 3 I make sure I get at least that many carbs each day. .

I am on day nine of phase 3…. and I am still within 1 pound of my LIW!!!!!! I made the spaghetti squash and meatballs last night, I purposely waited until week two because I know spaghetti squash generally will make me gain 3 to 4 pounds overnight even if I only have half a cup….. I had an entire cup and no weight gain. My body was so sensitive that I couldn’t have anything like a mug bread even though it was fiber carbs….my net carbs had to be below 25 and my total carbs could never go over 35 so I was getting very little fiber.

I am eating a mug bread every day! I could seriously cry because I feel like what I set out to do, reset my body and tell it “you are not the boss of me I’m the boss of you” is actually happening! Thanks SO MUCH! Much love

Can you share a little about your personal life- ie work full time/part time, kids or hubby or school? Would love to hear how you made the logistics work of cooking the program with whatever time constraints you deal with. How did you manage to fit in preparing the meals with your schedule each week?

I have been married almost 21 years and have a 16 year old son and an almost 20 year old daughter. During Phase 3 of the hCG my momma was also living with us while she recovered from a heart attack (that she had while I was on HCG, ugh!)

Like I said before, I always cook so I think I was lucky. I work part time, 5 hours a day, so I just come home from work and start cooking every day!

Wanting to cook extra healthy for mom also gave me incentive to stick to the recipes. I home-school my son in the morning before school, so he would sit at the counter and I would cook and teach ☺

Have you struggled on past p3’s and if so what were your struggles? Did the P3 program help address these struggles/how so?

YES! I stabilized with keto 2 times, and didn’t stabilize at all 1 time. My biggest struggle was knowing what to add and when, and keeping my carbs so low that I could never add any back in.

That’s why I gained the 28 pounds last year, I just started “eating normal” and ballooned up.

With the Phase 3 program, I started out with more carbs per day than I have had in years (excluding my 4 months off the wagon) and still maintained, so knowing that I can have those “extra” carbs will make P4 so much easier.

Heather’s Email #2

Hey! Things are going really well! Today is actually my last day of phase three, however, my body is so sensitive I’m going to do it for another week and then I will just do a modified phase 3 probably for ANOTHER week… I can literally gain 10 pounds in one week so I’m going to work this like Atkins and add five net carbs a day for the first week and then 10 for the second and so on and so on…what do you think about that? I’m still within 1 lb of my LIW!! WooHoo!!

Were there any positive results from following the plan that surprised you, that you weren’t expecting? Have you learned anything new from the program?

Hate to sound like a broken record, but again it’s the carbs! It is really difficult to live at 20ish carbs a day for years on end and just learning that my body can have them is life changing.

What were one or two of your favorite recipes in the plan?
  • Chicken fritters with Pico De Gallo
  • Spaghetti Squash with Meatballs
Any other closing thoughts that you want to share about your experience with the program, or that might help others considering whether or not to give it a try?

HCG is hard, emotionally and mentally hard. Its just not worth doing if the loss isn’t going to “stick”.

Rayzel’s Phase 3 to life plan made it stick for me, and taught me that I can eat so many more things than I was before. It helped me not to be scared of healthy foods that I hadn’t eaten in years because of their carb count. I consider myself pretty educated in diet and exercise, but I still learned from this program, and I think others will too.

Also, I truly believe that everyone needs some structure after being on a round of HCG… too much freedom is hard to deal with, we tend to reason ourselves into believing that 5 spoons of peanut butter is OK because we got the sugar free kind…LOL. The P3 plan gave me that structure and allowed me to ease back into real life, one step at a time… or should I say one spoon at a time?

Heather’s Email #3

Don’t you even apologize for the delay! I can’t imagine how busy you are! I just wanted to make sure that it wasn’t right before my eyes and I wasn’t seeing it, this is a frequent theme in my life LOL. Yes the P3 program definitely helped me to stabilize easier than ever before, I would be happy to do an interview with you!

I didn’t follow it exactly, because I don’t eat pork, and I didn’t want to buy salmon for my large group but I replaced these things with chicken and just tweaked it a little bit… but everything I ate was on your plan with the exception of homemade chicken fried rice made with cauliflower rice but I felt like it still fit in;) it really helped me to see the calories I should be aiming for, and the carbs I should be aiming for.

It gave me so much more variety than usual because it just seemed like at the end the day I was eating a bunch of almonds and string cheese every day and never having a real meal when I stabilized in the past. I am a visual learner, and I am OCD with organizations so just seeing things in the calendar format made it click in my head.

Side note, my husband had been on 25 pounds when he was injured on the job, he has a very physical job and cannot do something as strict as hCG, so he did phase 3 plan with me, along with a protein shake for lunch, and he lost 15 pounds in those three weeks, also my son is heavy into body building and weightlifting and he is “cutting” right now and he has been able to eat every meal, so that has been so great too.

Save

I hope you found that encouraging that stabilizing IS doable, and it’s doable in a way that is pleasing to your taste buds. Without being deprived. Without fear and anxiety. This is proving to be a very reliable method for stabilization – honestly even more successful than I could have hoped for.

Again you can find the program details if you wish to enroll at P3tolife.com

Remember, you can enroll anytime. I would recommend however IF you are going to try P3tolife to enroll at least a week BEFORE P3 starts if at all possible so you have time to familiarize yourself with the program and plan ahead.
